Are you looking for crickets or mulberry leaves? :?

I got a mulberry tree in my backyard so I just got and pluck off some leaves, wash them, then let my beardies devour them lol.

the leaves are definitely the way to go if you want to raise silks or just prefer leaves over chow. chow is VERY expensive in the long run because silkworms go through LOTS of it. it takes an abundant amount of eaves to feed them, but it's well worth it! the worms are much healthier and tend to have a much better chance of completing their cycles if you are interested in raising them.

Here maybe I can help this is a pic of the leaves of my mulberry tree I have the fruit bearing kind.
Where dawnki's pic is of the non fruit bearing. We have both varieties in California.

However I wanted to add that if your thinking of using the mulberry leaves to feed silkies be prepared to pic lots of leaves per day. You have to wash and dry them very well. Also I'd like to add that the chow is much easier when dealing with silkies. They will eat the leaves up very quickly they also dry out much faster than the chow.

not trying to start a ruckus :) but personally i prefer the leaves. i raised silkworms---normal and zebras all summer last year on nothing but leaves-------i had a system going that worked very well and it was fun. YES they eat an incredible amount of leaves, i had three separate trees that i collected from. i didn't, however, wash them at all------if they had rain water on them i would dry and that worked out fine. i am also an avid tree climber so........... ;)

both will work.... if you start to feed the worms mulberry leaves they are VERY fussy about going back to chow..

also, i only have one dragon----i imagine it would get to be overwhelming (leaves) with few more than that.

good luck!

so here are some pics of trees around the area - i already have permission to pick leaves off one of them. i've feed it to the worms and they ate it in one night but i wanted to be sure it was mullberry leaves because the owner didn't know.

don't know what this one is

Oh Don't worry your not! It is like anything else it's really a matter of preference. ( "More than 1 way to skin a cat!" As they say.) I myself find the chow easier with all of the other things on my plate. But I definitely agree that the leaves are a more economical way to go.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
