I've managed to become the 'mama' of a beardie and two leos, and add my 'familiar' feline counterpart. My best friend, with whom I will be moving, has a chinchilla.
The move isn't set on a date, but it will be at least next fall if not later. All my kids are in perfect health (if a lil on the chubby side...) and I just don't have it in me to let them go. Call me stubborn but I got them knowing it would limit what I could do in certain situations but so help me I will make the most of my life. and its only because of THEM that I can.
So I guess any tips or warnings anything that will help me prepare. Yes I know I'm one of those crazies that has to plan out every little detail, but the frailty of my kiddies makes me paranoid. I don't want to make them any more uncomfortable than they have to be.

I believe some people put the beardie in a shoebox or something while in a snake bag or something. They also put heat packs in for warmth. Are you driving or flying?

There are instructions online for shipping live reptiles; follow those and pack your babies like you would for shipping. It doesn't seem like the way to "spoil" them, I know, to pack them up so they can't see out and keep them sealed up for the day that they are traveling, but it minimizes stress on them and ensures they arrive in the best possible condition.

Just keep it simple, and if the trip will take longer than a day, arrange to have them shipped to your new home ahead of you if at all possible.

Good luck! I'm sure you and your babies will be just fine :)

Thank you for your replies. We will be making the drive in my PT Cruiser. Yeah. Wasn't planning on moving cross country when I got it. But it'll have to do. My buddy has apparently already picked out our route, she's made the move before vice versa. But after a lot of talking we've estimated the travel time to take about a week give or take a few days depending on how far we can drive each and how often we rest.
We have checked on how to ship a reptile and I get twitchy just thinking about it. Just thinking about letting someone else taking care of my reptiles while I'm off for a weekend is enough to make me paranoid, but to ship them off to fly? But I know, its realistically safer and more reasonable.
And my friend's family has even suggested we ship some of our stuff ahead of time so lighten the load while travelling. so we could even have their homes set up by the time they arrive.
My friend, I think she goes by crazyanimallady or something on here, mentioned head pads or hot hands. Whatever they are called. I've looked into safely travelling with my cat so she shouldn't be a problem.
I'm mostly just worried about my reptiles and her chinchilla.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
