Mouth rot?

So I've noticed for the past week or so my little boy Leo's mouth at the front is quite dark and the tip of his tongue. I feel like it happened after he shed his mouth. He is fine apart from that and still happily eats normal. Are there other symtoms that would tell me for sure?
