Hi Everyone, Looking for some advice here.

I’ve got a ten month old beard and i’m a bit concerned about his teeth. He recently lost his front teeth (which i’m told is normal for them and they will eventually re grow) but i’m concerned about the state of his other teeth. They look quite dirty almost like they’ve got old food on them. They don’t appear swollen or infected and don’t smell but what’s concerning me is that his upper teeth look like they’re digging into his lower gum and appears to be leaving in indentation. He’s still extremely active will happily eat locusts (his appetite has reduced a bit in recent weeks but i’m partly attributing that to the change in seasons), he’s never really eaten greens but i’m still trying.

I couldn’t get any better pictures because he was starting to get irate.

Thanks in advance :)

Edit: forgot to mention, he’s got a vets appointment but she’s on holiday for a couple of weeks

I'm sorry to hear he lost his front tooth. Did he catch it on something? It's fairly common (my guy is missing his front tooth too) but they don't grow back. They get pretty good at chomping bugs with their side teeth though. My first thought would be to increase the hard shelled bugs in his diet but if he's digging into locusts I'd imagine that would be enough to clean off his teeth naturally. He may need some extra help. Try picking up some MaxiGuard https://www.amazon.co.uk/Maxi-Guard-Oral-Cleansing-60ml/dp/B003Y3UJQ0/. Put some of it on a q-tip and rub it along his gums and teeth. It may help reduce bacterial buildup and prevent mouth rot from forming. A vet checkup is a good idea too. She may have some additional ideas for you and can give a thorough examination.

I’ll have a look around and see what I can find to get his teeth cleaner. I managed to get a better picture of his mouth after his bath today and got a better view of the grooves to his gums that I was talking about

I’m wondering if he might be too low on calcium and thats making his gums a bit weaker?

Other than some stuck bits on his teeth his mouth looks pretty good to me. If you can keep his mouth relatively clean and keep the bacteria down a bit I imagine he'll be fine.
