Ok my Rose is getting over some other stuff (URI) and doing pretty good BUT... when i got her last month i noticed that she had this black stuff around her teeth and is missing a couple back ones, she pretty much only eats babyfood seems to not like chewing unless its soft (like horn worms) im wondering if its cavitys? ill try to get a decent pic (been trying but i bring out camera she shuts mouth) been doing a very weak betadine brushing with one of those super soft infant tooth brushes (she dosent fight it seems to like it) and some but not all the black has gone away, its only at the base of her teeth and while Thorn has a nice pinkish inside mouth hers is a yellowish color, has anyone got any idea what it might be? My vet dosent know and the closest herp vet is about 100 miles from me and i do not have a reliable car for that distance.

She has a great appetite and is not losing weight has grown by 1/2 inch and put on about 15 grams since i had her with the URI going on, I also think both dragons may be semi brumating (sleeping alot not really eating normally but active when out of tank except Thorn who trys to drownd himself in his bath sleeping in it)

dragons
Thorn 23.3/4 in 680 grams
Rose 17.3/4 in 525 grams

Tanks (both of them)
75-80 cool side
90-98 hot side
105-111 basking
reptisun bar lights for UVB (inside tanks)
humidity under 34 (thats the highest ive seen it stays about 20 though)
tile floors
big hides/basking spots
cotton rope wrapped logs
small sand boxes
blankies in hides
feeding mustard greens + tunip greens daily with either summer squash, sweet tatters, spaghetti squash in for extra flavor (all cut up small)
Bugs are superworm treats, dubias (just not the girls) and horn worms
bugs are dusted X3 per week and salad is dusted with calcium lightly everyday
vits are 2 per week in babyfood slurry as they HATE them

I have tried all day to get a pic while her mouth is open but as soon as i get it in focus she snaps it shut, I have horn worms coming this week she loves them should be able to get her to stay open then. She has now run off to her hide to escape the evil camera , I have no clue when she will come out will probably have to drag her out when its bath time tomorrow LOL

On a different side how do you unspoil a dragon? Both dragons will not eat out of their plates will only eat if i put it in there open mouths both of them see the salad plate and open mouths waiting for me to insert food, today i didnt until just a little bit ago (cant stand the thought they might be hungry) the only one who eats anything on there own is Thorn and thats ONLY the live food that runs fast (dubias) or the super big horn worms

I have no ideas about the mouth issue, sorry. Hopefully someone with more info on the subject will stop in and say something.

As to unspoiling a bearded dragon, I know your two dragons have just gone through some antibiotics and stuff for their RIs so I wouldn't go the tough love route and just let them get hungry enough to decide to try eating on their own. Not until they are all healthy and have been so for a little bit. Do you have to hand feed them their bugs, too? If not, try making the salad move to stimulate their hunter response. You can try shaking the bowl a little bit or have a salad shower (Mrs T first gave me that idea) where you let bits of greens rain around them. Same idea. You can also try placing larger sprigs of greens in places that might make them curious to test them out. I offer my guy a carrot top (turnip greens and mustard greens would work good also) when ever I have nice fresh ones and let him grab and pull the leaves off on his own. When I stick the sprigs in his log like branches, they are usually gone by the time I check again.

How long after their lights come on do you feed them? If you normally put food in right away, you can try waiting just a little longer and leaving some greens in there, then checking back...my beardie, who is very social, still seems to prefer to eat when I'm not looking. LOL
I hope this helps
Carrie

PS I got my fellow interested in greens the same way you are doing..I stuck them in his mouth...so it's just one more step on the road, so to speak :D

the shaking thing just makes them glare at me LOL ive even put there fav treat super worms on top and still i get the glare LOL. Bugs are hand fed too except the dubias Thorn will eat them on his own but im just starting a colony (got one female so far) and dont really want to feed them all off just yet LOL, horn worms should be here today ive never had an issue with them and him. Rose is hand fed everything and VERY picky loves her baby food hates her greens spits them right back out, but will eat summer squash, just the summer squash LOL and any bugs i put in mouth, tends to gorge on horn worms i have to tell her shes done ( 4 full sized ones is her limit and i know its a ton) I put food in about 2 hours after lights come on hand feed after its sat their with them stairing at me from the food bowls, tryed to wait till afternoon yesterday hoping they might do it on there own didnt work, so will continue to hand feed untill they figure it out LOL (dragon slave) When i can find some carrot tops ill try that idea of yours, they are hard to find in my town as well as most good stuff :(

Besides Thorn trying to drown himself they are doing well today really worried about Roses mouth though. wish she would let me get a pic. shes missing a few back teeth and today when i fed her some summer squash her jaw sounded like it was breaking, loud popping like a big dog snapping its jaws shut creeped me out kinda like she was crushing bones.summer squash is pretty soft i dont think it was hurting her but she didnt eat much I ended up putting her salad in the blender and adding some chicken baby food to it and doing the hour long wait till she opens get a little in (BTW she HATES greens even blended) and her shaking half of it out and repeating LOL

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
