Most crickets you've purchased?

What's the most crickets you've purchased at one time? I want to start buying a lot of crickets at a time and just feeding them instead of having to continually going to the shop I go to. The guy at the shop says it's not a good idea because they die quickly...but I feel like he's saying that to make more profit off me.

What's the most cricket's you've purchased..and how big of an enclosure do you keep them in?

I've got 250 at a time before breeding them. Life of a cricket is 5-8 weeks so the best thing to do if you don't feed them off fast and want them to last is to buy young crickets. A 64 qt. bin can house about 1000 crickets. The ticket is giving then lots of surface space (egg crates) to hide in. Good ventilation and never let then run out of water. If you buy crickets and they are chirping then they are in their last molt and got about 2 weeks of life...the last (7th) molt they get wings.

I started ordering 500, then 1000, and am going to order 2500 next if it ever gets warm enough for the growers to ship them. Minnesota weather this year is causing me problems. If you know approx. how many crickets you need a month and order the size that gives you some growing time, it is so much cheaper. I am paying 10 cents each at the pet store and hoping for a heat wave next week. Shop around, prices for product and shipping vary a lot and the wholesalers stand behind there products if you have a problem. Good Luck!

I don't think I need crickets anymore, I picked up some dubias at the pet shop and my beardie loves them. I'm still gonna switch it up and give her crickets here and there...but I think I'm gonna give her mostly dubias.
