Morphs and what not

So I've been doing a lot of research learning the different morphs, hypo leatherback het hypo and blah blah blah blah blah.... The only thing I am having trouble with is the term Holdback? That meaning of such great quality it's being heldback from being sold to be a "stud" or what?

actually a good bit of the time breeders will label a animal a "holdback" when they were unable to sell it at a younger age so they hang onto it for a extra month or so in hopes of being able to sell it when they are larger hince the name "holdback"

I would only add that "holdback" is in the eye of the beholder, as well as "collector" quality. It is very subjective and depends on the quality of the breeders and the comparison between it's clutch mates. Dragons will be held back due to color, pattern, size, morph, or sex and be given time to develop before sold (at which time it looses it's "holdback" status, heh).

I have noted in a lot of cases that what most would call a holdback would be just a normal in our clutches.

Careful research and shopping can pay off, but most of the time you get what you pay for.
