Moose Is Here! ( update 8/19)

Just commissioned Mark from Boamaster to build a custom 5x2 moosie-mansion. I'll put together a picture review once I get it set up and going. Till later,

so have you weighed and measured Moose lately, he looked big in the tub in that video. He'll still grow some in his 2nd year, but should be done by the time he's 2. He'll sure enjoy his new mansion, can't wait to see it!

510 grams and a tad over 18 inches long. His winter hunger strike had a big effect, glad to hear he will still grow this year. He's eating CRAZY this week. 5 nearly-full-size hornworms this morning, he's been taking them by the handful since early last week. New Reptisun day was earlier this month so I bet that had something to do with it, same thing happened when I replaced it last time. I'm planning on going with an arcadia t5 when his big boy tank comes in. Mark told me his tank should be done and ready to ship in about 10 days, I'll be moving first week of august so I'm excited. I promise I'll get new pics soon :lol:

He's already adult size, so we'll see how big he is when he's 2. All of mine grew at least another inch, if not a bit more and gained lots of weight, so we'll see where he ends up. They're crazy when they're juvies, on & off food, you never know if they'll eat or not, it's a nutty time! I'll bet you're hyped to get the new mansion in & get him sorted. Does this mean you'll be getting another beardie to fill the old tank :wink: I mean, I'm up to 6 beardies, having so much fun with them all!

Glad the on and off eating pattern is normal. He had me worried for a while. Can't wait to get him in his new enclosure, that 40gb is CRAMPED. The 40is likely to be reused in the future but probably not for a beardie. I'd like to throw a grow box on top of it and turn it into an indoor aquaponics system. I love moose but I only need one

Moose is absolutely stunning! I love his coloring. I just read through his whole thread, it was so cool to see him grow from a tiny little baby to a big.... well, Moose!

Look what came in on Friday

5x2x18in PVC from BoaMaster, 4ft SunBlaster HO t5 fixture and reflector from 1000bulbs, and a two year supply of t5 Arcadia 12%s from lightyourreptiles. WOO!

I haven't opened the enclosure yet, I move into my new place on Thursday, so expect lots of Moose this weekend.

Some other possibilities... I picked up this great piece of bamboo root a few months ago when I was planning on a 5x3. It probably wont make it in the 5x2 but I'll try

Moose was running rampant for the first two hours we got in the new place, then he curled up and fell asleep (only about 4pm).

He was still curled up come 10 this morning so I put him in his baking spot and he's been acting normal. I don't think it took him long to realize that everything is still Ok. 

I got the tank put together today, haven't gotten the lights set up yet.. Been real busy obviously. Only took about half an hour with a drill. Was pretty easy, the hardest part was cleaning the dust off.  I'll put together my full review when I get the chance. In short, it rocks. Till later

He's loving his new viv, he's been in it over a week now. His mood has really changed with the arcadia uvb. He has much more energy and he's been more explorative when he gets out. The viv is on the floor still so when he wants to go home he will dash right back in there :lol: Still waiting for his shelving unit to arrive... it was supposed to get dropped off at my door last Wednesday. The freight company keeps delaying my order, so that's a headache.

I've heard the new Arcadia MBV is awesome, do you have to use something to change it from European current to USA current (can't remember what it's called). I'm still using Power Suns and I've been thinking of switching over.

Moose looks wonderful, so glad he didn't have any relocation stress and that he's really enjoying his new tank. Having it on the floor sure makes it easier for him to dash home :lol: He's so beautiful!
