I beard at he who has not yet cleaned my mess

Moose has been bearding everything these past few days, it's so funny to see him run around and randomly puff out his beard. I've been trying to get pictures and video of him doing it but he tends to stop when the camera shows itself. He's gotten in the habit of eating one big meal in the day and skipping dinner for an early bedtime. I suppose it's just due to the seasons changing, I changed his light schedule a little bit to give him more sleep, he seems happy with it. He weighed in at 260 grams last week, he's getting so big!

When the bearding starts it can be so funny. Wait until the spring when he really turns it black & beards & bobs EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING. He will keep you entertained!

Yes, the earlier bedtime is definitely because of the seasonal changes, at least he's still eating!

Happy new years everyone! Excuse my hiatus, I've had a lot going on lately and Moose has been... brumating Wasn't really expecting it this year, this one knows when the winter is for sure though. The past week or so he's been really active, running and bearding like a mad man. Only to fall asleep about an hour before lights out. These last few months he'd only come out for maybe 2-3 hours a day, spread out too, not at once. He's never rejected a salad, but would sometimes go without any live food. But I think he's coming out of it, so YAY!

I haven't taken too many pictures lately, but my gosh he's gotten so big! And his colors are gorgeous, I need to get some good ones when he's in the bath. Warm water makes him fire up like a glow stick :lol:

His nails have gotten a bit... out of control lately, too. I look like I got into a fight with a chicken most of the time. So I went out and got him a piece of tile for the viv yesterday to help. He doesn't like tp stay still when I take him out, he prefers to take the high ground after being on my chest/shoulder for a while... The high ground being my legs/feet or the top of my head, depending on the situation. With those nails he has no trouble climbing up my face either :shock: :lol:

You need to cut his nails, you can use a regular nail cutter and just cut the very tip, above the vein. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, see if you can get a vet or even someone at the petshop you go to. I've done the nails of my beardies, waited until they were asleep, but turns out they don't mind having their nails cut while awake, just wait until he's sleepy and go for it. Just make sure it's just the tip; they need their nails clipped, then the tile you put in will keep them dull. Let me know how that turns out!

Dad: Hypo leather, poss het for trans from RainbowBeardedDragons
Mom: Hypo trans citrus tiger from Draggintails inc

He's hypo, leather, het for trans... don't think I'd call him a tiger, he has sidebars, but they aren't really predominant. If I could make up a name for his "color morph", it would be Citrus Candy Cane

I'm a little nervous to trim his nails. Not so much that I doubt my ability to do it, I just don't want to freak him out. I'll give it a shot though.

Just remember that the nail bed is really close, so just the very end is to be clipped. If you don't feel comfy, is there a vet that you take him to? I don't think it would cost much but call ahead. I used to know a lady who worked at a petshop that showed me how to clip nails on my first dragon & I've done all my dragons since. Some I have to wait until they're asleep, some I can clip while awake, just depends on how hyper Moose is. And you have to have a steady hand, too, so make sure it doesn't stress you out!

He really is a beautiful dragon, can't believe how much he's grown since you got him!

I do have a vet who could probably do it, but ehhh. I came across a good how-to a while back that did a good job explaining how far back you can go. The tile has flattened them out quite a bit though, he hasn't cut me at all since I put it in. It's funny how he's been climbing on me lately. He used to just be content wherever I put him but now he has to get as high as possible. I got a good picture (by accident) showing him booking it to my face. It's hilarious, the expression he gives right before he does it too... He stares DEEP into your soul and just charges :lol:

^So hard to get with my cell phone but his eyes have yellow and red in them, so pretty.

^"Really?! you had the nerve to put me back?"

After taking the pictures today he snuggled around my neck for almost an hour, I wanted him to warm up a little before bedtime otherwise I would have left him

He just has the most awesome colours and he's getting SO big. I love the first pic, running up to your face, did he try to climb it? Gabriel loves to climb my head, but he's also the one who keeps jumping off things, he's escaped the living room twice and has also learned how to climb the sofa, so it's time for nail cutting for him, too!

I also loved your favourite pic of him in his "hot tub" and also on the bedstead, talking to the bear. He sure likes to climb now, not unexpected, beardies do like to climb, just hope he doesn't climb the curtains, like Rubio used to do :lol: That was a sight to behold, 'cause he's so darned big. When I weighted him last week when he woke up from brumation he was up to 826g!

So thanks for sharing, love pics of Moose, he's just getting brighter as he gets older

Of course he tried to climb it :lol: I stopped him as his hand got up to my eye though. He's only jumped off me once, from my hands down to the carpet about 3 or 4 feet in height but he didn't think twice about it. Rubio must be huge :shock: I haven't weighed moose in a few weeks, probably need to do that...

WOW is Moose ever growing up fast!

Its interesting how his coloring is staying the same as when he was a baby - he still looks like a circus peanut! :lol: It really is very unique.
