Moose Is Here! ( update 8/19)

^Ive seen many people here get to experience the excitement of taking a new baby in but it's finally my turn Just got off the phone with David and Moose is on the way. WOOHOO!

He's here he's here! I gave him a quick soak in some warm water as soon as I got him out of his cup, didn't mind the bath at all! He also didn't mind me holding him, looked at me curiously, not scared, didn't try to run. When I let him in his new home he ran up his faux rock I made him, sat there for about 2 minutes and then tried to find his basking spot. Once he was there he spent about 30 minutes taking in the heat. He started to gape a little bit at 110 so I dimmed it just a tad. After he warmed up he began to explore. I figured this would be a good opportunity for some yum yums. My reptiworms should be here tomorrow or thursday, but today, I figured I'd spoil him with some wax worms. He ate four decent sized ones and then ran back up his basking spot. Sorry I can't post all the pics just yet, I've got to be heading out for a little bit. Here's one to hold you over

He seems a little more weary of me now that the day has gone by, but generally he still seems pretty calm and relaxed. He didn't bask a whole lot today, he seemed a little distracted by his reflection too. He left a pretty huge poo earlier, it was green, don't know why. It wasn't runny, and the urates were bright white. After reading it looks like the beardie bites may have caused that, any ideas? I'm trying to get him to eat more bugs (lights out in three hours) but he doesn't seem to want any. As you can see in the last pic he made a nice little mess of his salad bowl today lol

I wouldn't worry about his moose sized messes just yet. He's had a long trip and things need time to settle. Once he's in the swing of things, you can take him for a check up and have him checked for parasites :wink:

Not too worried ATM. I've had a crested gecko for a year now so I have some first hand experience with relocation stress. David told me his breeders are checked for parasites regularly, and it had absolutely no smell. I don't think he has anything, but I understand how easy is it to catch something when live food is involved. Guess its almost time to clean out his food bowls and get ready for bed. My "moose"-stached companion should sleep well tonight :lol:
