Mega ray questions...

I'm buildin Gizmo a 4x2x2 enclosure and want to use a mega ray bulb, but I am a little confused and just wanted some input before I order the bulb.
What are the correct basking temps for a 2 year old? I thought it was between 100-105 but I read this on the web site for the mega ray...

Remember that as your BD gets older, you will need to increase the basking temps. An adult bearded dragon should have basking temps of 110+. I like to see the temperatures on the high side so it encourages the creature to "shuttle" as they would in nature. The activity will help the digestive system and overall keep him healthier.

If I get the mega ray 100 watt SB what is the correct distance the beardie should be from the bulb? Is it 14-16" or is it closer?

Also I thought I read some where that you have to give the bulb a burn in period. Wht is the how long is the burning in period?Finally am I correct in mounting the bulb pointing straight down and not at any angle at all?

Sorry if these questions seem to be redunant and they were answered somewhere else. I could not find the answers and everyone here is always so helpful.

I have a mega-ray 100W SB running in a 4x2x2 enclosure with similar venting to the crossfire enclosure. My temps at 14-15 inches run about 105F, but it has been in the 50s and 60s lately. During the summer it will probably run around 110-115 until the thermostat shuts it down. I let my mega-ray burn in for a couple days on the typical light cycle. The bulb needs to be position as close to pointing perfectly downward as possible, having it at an angle will ruin the bulb. Hope that helps.

110+ is a little excessive. Bob, likes his animals at the higher end of the spectrum. Not to mention that I think he is looking for the an open air enclosure temp. Then 110+ is a little bit more realistic. I like to see my basking temps around 105 for my adults and 110 for my babies.
As for the distance I run the EB kits so this is a guess but, I would be looking for 12+"

with a 100 watt mvb the minimum distance from the bulb is 12". I have never heard of higher temps for an older beardie. My girl Rex is 5 yrs old and I keep her basking temp around 100 degrees. She actually gets most of her exercise/movement when she's out of her viv.

I use a 100w sb megaray for nando.At first my temps were way too hot so i just kept adding more ventilation because like dawn i like or should i say nando likes temps at about 100f.Mvbs need to be a min of 12 inches away from your beardie they need to be pointing straight down. One thing i did pick up on is that it dose say that u cant use them on dimmers or thermostates they are either on or off.One more thing at the moment im using a power sun 100w mvb which are a ok bulb cause my megaray broke new one on the way though i have had to add a 60w regular basking bulb to get the temps up because the megaray 100w sb dose burn hotter than the power sun 100 so imo there is a difference the amount of heat different mvbs put out
