As long as the temps are good then the UVB bulb should have no affect on the parasite issue.I think the bulb should really remain off until his eyes are better.

Oh crap i just read this one again and the frost stuff peeled off it all on its own just a few days ago And Lexia is keeping her eyes closed too. Her bulb is only 2 weeks old.

I did man i feel so bad for lexie I turned it off soon as i read about the frost comming off. What should i do for her in the mean time. Just provide heat and no UVB for a while. I have bran new reptisuns comming should be here tomorrow or wed at the latest. For the other beardies i can use it intill i get a replacement for Lexia.

Yes basically that is all you can do. She just needs time for her eyes to heal. I would give her at least 4 days or until you see her eyes looking normal again.

I emailed them asap as well im glad i seen it peeling its in a deep dome so i dont normaly see the bottom of the bulb. I was looking in on her and looked up and noticed it and put 2 and 2 together.

Hello Alyssa,

Which UVB light are you going to be putting in right now, while you are waiting on your replacement bulb?
The reason his parasites are elevated is due to the stress he was under while being exposed to the stronger rays of the Megaray. Stress does increase the parasite levels.
I think right now, not using any UVB for at least 1 week is what he needs. He will be fine with no UVB for that time period. The new bulb will be there soon & his body will absorb the rays then. As long as he has a nice bright white light, then he will be fine. What type of basking light are you using?
If you put UVB on him right now, if his eyes are not completely healed up, his stress levels will remain elevated & medicating him will not do much good.

Yep my hubby says not even a full two weeks. I put it in her viv soon as i got it. ill double check and see when it arived.

I checked and it will be 2 weeks tomorrow that we recieved the bulb.

The reason I ask is that I am burning one in right now that I received almost two weeks ago. I believe I got it a few days before I emailed ReptileUV and inquired about the megarays. I guess I will just have to watch it closely.

John... I know you have been adamant about reading this thread. I've been so worried about everyone else's bulbs that I forgot to even ask about mine What do you think, is it safe?

I thought hers was safe so i didnt really worry about it. Intill i took a look at the bottom just for the heck of it tonight and noticed it had the frost comming off and was in the middle of the bulb at the bottom. I told my hubby about it and he said its been that way for a few days. He didnt say anything about it to me. He normaly turns off her lights. Lexia has been keeping her eyes closed just started yesterday when we take her out of the viv she still keeps them closed. We ordered her a MVB bulb after she laid eggs i wanted her to get the best bulb. 2 weeks old tomorrow.

I don't and won't have any UVB until the MegaRay comes in. His eyes are doing a lot better today, not closed nearly as much and he ran around the house a little today. So should I see if the vet will let me take in another sample in say, 2 weeks to get it rechecked & see if it was the bulb that was causing his levels to be elevated? I'm using 2 fluorescent tubes (are those okay to use in his tank for extra light?) and for his basking i'm using 2 halogen bulbs. And i noticed you said bright white. I'm just using 2 regular halogens. One is like the one you would put outside, and the other looks like an oversized christmas bulb, i can take pics if needed. Also, should I try to keep his temps at a certain degree range? Sorry, I'm not trying to hijack, i just want to figure everything out with his health and how the bulb affected it, etc.
