Meet Tikvah!

This is Tikvah - or Tiki for short. Tikvah is Hebrew for "hope", as in we hope she has an awesome life. She's a rescue dragon, around a year old - if that. She enjoys spending her days gazing out the window.



She also enjoys having her claws filed so she doesn't get stuck on Mommy and Daddy's clothes.





She'll also just sit on the sofa and watch Jurassic Park, wondering if she's somehow related to the T-Rex...

I had NO CLUE what to do with her, and how much knowledge goes into these little creatures. This is a truly amazing website!!!! I love it, and spend lots of time browsing the dragon topics!!!

I went through the whole list with her:

Dead cricket
Sick cricket
Strange cricket
Cricket that ate another cricket
Cricket that ate a fly
Cricket that ate a worm
Nearly dead waxworm
Normal waxworm
Any possible type of vegetable

I probably mentioned 20 more. She has patience for me. She also knows I work for three lawyers and rarely stop asking questions until I'm satisfied and puts up with me nicely.

She said no way - if a dragon poops and it isn't thoroughly cleaned, the dragon can rub around it (she was on icky carpet before that I trashed within 10 minutes) and get worms. Eew.

I fully admit I am a slave. However - I do not mind this. I love being her slave.

HAHAHA!

So Tiks had her bath as usual this morning (she's potty trained!)

Then I put her in her home to soak up some rays and took her food bowl out. Made her a salad (80% collard green, 15% spaghetti squash, 5% carrot).

She is an ADDICT for carrots - it's like she needs a methadone clinic. But if a few carrot shreds entice her to eat the entire salad (which it does, on a large scale) I don't care.

So once I put the food bowl back, she RAN from one end to the other to demolish her salad. It was hilarious to watch.

Tikvah's head is shedding! She is very much so annoyed.

She eye-bulged to help herself shed. My husband witnessed this event. Had he actually found the phone within the fifteen seconds I was explaining said behaviour, he would have called 911.

I have had an epiphany.

If Fuzzy Wuzzy was a Bear - then Squirmy Wirmy was a Dragon. ESPECIALLY when she doesn't want to go back home.

Tiki - you had play time and ran around like someone on meth. You had dinner - you need heat now. GAH.

Ok - yay me - I bought Tiki her first Superworm! She devours them with gusto.

HOWEVER... they are not waxworms. I have somewhat gotten used to waxworms. As for Superworms... not so much. The Husband washed the material off of the worms, then Tiki had some lunch. He picked one up for her, and despite my best intentions, the following happened:

EXPLETIVE EXPLETIVE EXPLETIVE <goes to the other side of the room> EXPLETIVE EXPLETIVE EXPLETIVE.

Worms do not bother Husband. I am NOT on the mental level yet of dealing with them. Right now, they're just too much. I'm hoping to get better sooner rather than later.

Honestly it took me like a year of holding them to not be afraid of them biting me. Someone told me they could but i've never been bit.

I don't care about the biting (however, you mentioned they COULD bite, and now I'm even more freaked out.)

I just... am so weirded out by them! GAH!!!!!!!

I don't think they can, or I don't think they will.

Someone told me that a long time ago so I would always pick them up then drop really fast so they wouldn't bite me. But now I've held them so long that i'm pretty sure they can't bite you. Or maybe they can but they wont. Haven't been bit in the entire time i've bred them.
