Hi there folks my name is Tim and for Christmas I purchased myself a friend in a post christmas sale. He/she is named Steve-o/Bindi. I did quite a few hours of research on how to properly set up, and select a healthy friend, but it never seems like I run out of new opinions and information on dragons. I found a local reptile store called jungle bob's who sells the healthiest dragons ive seen, very few amputations of toes or tail tips, unlike every other pet shop I went to. It was a great experience though he did at first try to steer me toward cheaper setups, I thought this tank would at least last till he was a year then I'll build him/her a melamine enclosure.
That said I'm fully aware I am a reptile novice, as this is my first, and I am trying not to make the poor little bugger suffering from my mistakes. I found this site most helpful and would appreciate a habitat critique for my little buddy.
I have a reptisun 10.0 tube undermounted in a 30 gallon breeder tank with a zilla fresh air screen.
The basking light is a red 150watt exo terra bulb, which i will be replacing on payday with a better basking bulb as I have read that red is no good, even though I though he liked it since he likes to sleep like this
there is also a 75watt ceramic heat emitter by either zoo med or exo terra that keeps his cool side at 71 and his basking spot between 102 and 112 which is checked by several wire and probe thermometers
His/her diet consists of daily salads (which he isn't fussy about picking on WOOHOO) made of collards ( I am in search of dandelion and mustard greens locally) mixed with mango(1x a week), bell pepper(2x a week), and acorn squash all chopped finely since he is still tiny. He gets small phoenix worms as his main feeder(not dusted) and crickets every couple of days dusted with calcium +d3, they have hornworms in his size at jungle bobs and I was thinking of trying them out for more feeder variety. I think I will dust these based on the p:k. From what I can tell, other than this dark spot on my buddy's face just below his right eye (which i have been putting raw honey on as a precaution) my friend is adjusting to his new home, eating and pooping well formed turds 2x a day
