Meet Freddy Oscar Mercury! -PIC HEAVY-

Freddy, the 3 month awaited bearded dragon, arrived at my doorstep this morning around 9

I was shocked and delighted at how tiny he was!!



I was immediately able to hold him without any problems! The little guy is so mellow! (I blame it partially on the fact that he was cold. Only 68 degrees out this morning!)

My little sister got to hold him and she was in seventh heaven!! After all, she is the owner-in-training of the little guy!


We put him in his new home and he was immediately posing for the camera!





We went downstairs and made him a small salad of collard greens and a bit of mustard greens, but we found he was too content with the heat lamp he had discovered to be bothered with greens!


But he soon "warmed" up to the salad! Lol! :lol: But once he caught me watching he got all huffy and ran off again! :roll:

Look at the stink eye! Oh my gosh! :shock: He does NOT want me watching him hahaha!!



More About Freddy

I bought Freddy from Dramatic Dragonz after working for quite a while with the owner Tom. I was searching all around for a white baby bearded dragon. I went to every breeder website Google spit out at me. I looked through all the breeders for ones that were remotely white. I emailed countless breeders asking whether they would have any white or whitish babies around the time I was able to buy (I had a long vacation in the middle of July that I had to go through before I could get my beardie).
Tom was the most patient and helpful of everyone I contacted. Instead of the usual answer I got, which was something like "Yes, we will probably have some around that time. Please contact us again when you're ready to buy", Tom gave me the pairings with hatching clutches he had that had produced whitish dragons in the past. He worked with me to find a dragon in my limited price range and in the end, I ended up with Freddy.

Freddy's parents are Dramatic Dragonz's Sarah (Hypo Pastel 100% Marketed Leucistic) and Jacob (Possible Double Het. Citrus Tiger). Both absolutely stunning dragons! Tom has informed me that Freddy should lighten with every shed. Even if he doesn't, his parents are so beautiful that Freddy will most definitely be a stunning dragon himself! He's already a ham, that's for sure!

I love those pics.. glad that he's already making himself at home eating greens on the first day.. he's got great markings and will be interesting to see what he looks like as he gets older... have fun w/ your lil' guy!!

He's quite special. He just loves being held. When I try to put him back, he climbs up my arms instead, lol! However, he's not too good at hunting...

Maybe it's just because it's his first day. He can snatch up crickets as good as every other beardie, but he just seems sort of... uninterested. I mean, he spends more time looking at me or climbing on things and attacking the wall than he does catching crickets. I tried feeding him in a small box with a mini heat lamp clamped to it, just him and the feeder rock, but he still only caught a couple (with my herding help) before he wouldn't even try to eat them.

Personally, I detest these crickets. I've had enough encounters with the adults around the house (my brother seldom keeps a lid on his gecko's tank), and these little ones are even more jumpy!! :x The jump EVERYWHERE and just when you think the walls of the box are high enough, they climb up the surface and try to crawl away! UGH!! And there's Freddy looking at it saying "Nope, it's too high. Not gonna go for it."

SUPER excited to have some dubia around. My order shipped out today. Everything about them is just so perfect. They're meaty. They can't climb. They don't jump around. They're darker and easier to see. They don't smell. They don't make noise. And I'll probably be okay with picking them up (unlike those blasted crickets!!)

Of course, I also ordered 500 crickets too... :?

All in all, it's been a pretty good first day. Freddy can easily drink little droplets from the nozzle of my spray bottle I mist my scorpion and seedlings with (it's just water), and he hydrated very much. Though it wasn't much, I got a few crickets and some greens in his belly. We're already hitting off splendidly, Freddy and I. Plus, the neighbor was talking with my mom and was quite fascinated with Freddy and bearded dragons. She had no idea lizards could be so personable! I'm supposed to show her and her son (he's a super nice kid. The responsible type) Freddy and tell them more about bearded dragons.

Freddy's doing great!! He's still recovering from relocation stress, as expected, but he is starting to eat more and he's adjusting nicely to his new schedule. Here are some more pics.














I also bought him a new light fixture that didn't buzz or flicker like his old one and I mounted it to the inside of his enclosure so he'll get more UVB.
