dusting the crickets everyday. like i keep saying he is doing sooo good. oh btw... the girl at the pet store lied to me she told me he was 4 months. no he is about 4 weeks old. big differance but i can handle it. have any of you used the bearded dragon pelet food? how low should his night temps get? they have been going as low as 70. maybe like 68.... we have a night purple heat lamp. im afraid it will keep him awake. plus doesnt he need lights off time?

he is shedding soo fast. his tail is done now his face is shedding.

have any of you used the bearded dragon pelet food?

I use the pellet food. Not as a staple by itself, but I soak 6-10 pellets in warm water while I'm preparing Sigrun's fruit and/or salad bowl in the morning. By the time I'm done they're good and soft and I just squish them between my fingers into a paste and drop that on his food bowl. Helps him get some water, too if he decides to eat some of them. And he usually nibbles on it some.

question about their mood.... my baby is now shedding on his legs and feet! im a very happy proud momma, but his moods have dropped. he seems to be a little more scared and idk just different.

My little one has also been acting different but it is because she is shedding the scaredness i also wouldn't worry about he's probably more stressed from shedding his skin and he is very young so I'd say just give him some time to come around :wink:

And I can totally relate on pet stores selling way too young. Most breeders don't sell till they are 8 weeks but with babies eating so many crickets a day it's cheaper for the breeder to just sell to a pet store when there young that's my guess. It's terrible because most people get them and a mixture of not knowing how to care for these babies and being misguided by the petstore's own staff and they have less a chance of making it

I was also a victim of this before I got a beardie I did some general research, read some BD books but nothing could prepare me more than this site and I wish I had found it before I got my baby...the pet store told me crushed walnut shells would be okay and picked out a coil UVB light. At the time all i knew was sand wasn't good and to have a heat source and UVB.

I don't think the behavior is anything to worry about with a shedding baby. Good luck with him and I love all the pictures! He's beautiful

update on the baby. he is done with his shed for now. and he is fianlly eating his greens. i found that he likes mustard greens. im a very happy mommy. i do have one question the pet store told me feeding him baby food is not good for him even though they have the vitamins in them. i dont understand. does anyone else feed theirs baby food? im giving him squash with pears. apples and bananas as a every now and then treat. and green beans even though he doesnt seem to like it he eats them. i just want to make sure im not hurting him.

The pet store probably just said that because they want you to buy their critical care food. Baby food is FINE as long as it is no sugar added. I was told on this forum when mine stopped eating to mix calcium powder into chicken babyfood mixed with squash or apple babyfood and my baby loved it. It's the same thing they would be getting if they ate their normal food, my babies would get squash and protien from the chicken as if they were eating on their own.

The babyfood you're giving him sounds fine as long as it's no sugar added. So check the bottle and if not I think you're good :wink:

hah. no it was a present for my puppy. it came with his justin bieber doll. and boudreaux cant use it so i flipped the top around and painted his name on it. he loves it. im going to be sad when he gets too big for it. how fast do they grow?

So I've been reading along the treads and I saw people are feeding there babies 50 to 100 crickets a day. Am I starving my baby???? He eats about 7-10 in the morning plus greens/baby food. Then another 6 at night. Is that too little? I just can't afford much more right now I'm looking into buying them offline. Is there any other little things I can do to keep him fat and happy and most of all healthy.
