mealworm question

My boyfriend says you have to cut off the heads of the mealworms/superworms or they will eat through the stomach. Is this true? Or is there some sort of feeder you have to cut off the heads? Just wondering because it sounds pretty iffy to me.

I have never heard that before but logically if the beardie can "crush" the mealworms head while chewing it up then that "risk" is out of the question. I have a younger beardie maybe a year old and he smashes the !@#$ out of a mealworm. When he finally swallows it I can assure you that mealworm isnt chewing his way out of anything. The only scenario wherein that MIGHT be possible is if the mealworm is way too big and the little beardie is simply shoving it in without chewing the mealworm properly. Even at though a little beardie IME can and does chew things up really well before they are willing to swallow. Based on my experience and logic thats impossible. I dont believe the myth.

Boy have I heard that story a million times over. Supposedly it is the supers that do the so called "eating" their way out of the stomach.
I have been feeding supers to my older beardie for years and have yet to see one chew through her stomach lining.
Until I see concrete evidence this is true, I too believe it is a myth. No one I have ever talked to has actually experienced this with their beardie. It is just a tale that has been passed around the world of reptiles.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
