Hi my name is John and I have my 1.5 year old dragon Maxymus. I saw some really nice healthy and colorful dragons at Petsmart one day a couple Decembers ago and decided to wait and watch since they were like 3.5 inches at the time. As the month went by I got more and more nervous as the 3 dragons dwindled down to the one I wanted. I went ahead and bought him before he disappeared too, at about 4.5-5 inches long.
After bring him home I very quickly realized this little guy had an appetite larger than my previous whole colony of Anoles combined! He ate dozens of small crickets at a time, pellets, salads...anything! This was a food sign, a good eater is a good dragon from what I read at the time.
Every morning he would wait staring at his worms and for me to open them up, he dances around like a dog under my hand haha:
As time went on, I also knew he was growing and growing quick! I looked at other growth charts other Beardie owners kept (wish I did, it would of been mind blowing).
One month of me owning him:
Three months:
One Year, 18 inches 600 grams:
Today, just a bit under 20 inches, a bit over 700 grams:
I often go to that Petsmart and the girl who took care of him asks about him, even today, and I told him how well he was doing and growing etc. When I mentioned I bought him out of fear the other's were selling so quick, she commented "They didn't sell, Maxymus slayed the other dragons!" I then realized that portion of his character. Other than that, he's grown fond of our two dogs (although he wanted to take a bite out of our Morkie puppy for some reason for the longest time). He's very curious, still a big eater and just loves to hang on top of my head or shoulder.
He's also developed a passion for lawn care....which he got one bite of before I learned to not let him run around for too long! He combines his appetite and curiosity like most dragons and tries to eat rocks, dirt, etc etc. He's a full time job outside unless he's in the pool.
Newest, the two sides of Max, either happy or ready for the kill:
