Looking for good breeders

Howdy,
I'm still relativly new to this site. I used to own and breed beardies on a small scale. In May, I plan on buying a juvenille around 10-12 inches long and was wondering if anyone knows of a good breeder that isn't to expensive. I've also read alot about the avenovirus and am wondering if I should keep a look out for that? Also, I live in Texas and was wondering if anyone knew of any breeders in Texas that may have a website to look at the beardies.

Are you planning on getting into breeding again? If so, then you'll definitely want to be aware of the adenovirus issue since it's contagious and any dragons carrying it should never be bred. If you're just looking for a pet, I'm sure you'll want to make sure that you're getting a healthy dragon, however some dragons who carry adeno can live long and normal lives.

Unfortunately that site has not been updated in several years and I believe it's not working any more... So I would suggest just looking around at different breeders until you find what you like and then just ask us of our opinion of that breeder and we will let you know if they are trustworthy.

I've been looking at dachiu and they seem to have nice beardies for a decent price, are they generally pretty god? Do they have adenovirus at all?

The site is still up and running, I was looking at it this morning. A lot of the breeders (at least the ones in my area) were outdated, but some are still up and running and the links to their sites are there. I hadn't realized how out of date some of the info was, but it can still be a starting place if you have no idea where to look first.

My person opinion is I would start with a list of whom seems to look well. And have decent stock and compile a list of questions to send them. Including if they test for the adeno virus. It’s the best way to go about it.
There is a lot of breeders who list on their site that they do not test because they feel it is in all the dragons. Dachiu is one of them. I do not feel it is in all but it is in quite a few.
There are some smaller breeders who have tested negative it’s a hard find but they are out there.
