Hi guys, I’m Jayden, the proud mommy of Lizzie. I recently got her about a month ago. She seems to be about 5 months old maybe, I’m not sure, the people at the pet store were no help. She is my first beardie so I have had a lot of questions but thanks to the forum you guys always provide the best answers! Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forum! Please feel free to ask any questions you have about Lizzie's care. She looks younger than 5 months in that photo. How big is she?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Beardies! Miss Lizzie is a beauty! Have you always been interested in dragons? What made you get Lizzie? I am always interested in how we come about being Beardie owners. I became a beadie mom by accident...and now, I am a total fan! I would never have believed that a lizard could be so smart, sweet, cuddly and interactive, before my dear DeziLu came into my life. Now, I cannot imagine life without him...and they just get better, as they mature. At about six months, they become more calm and desire cuddles and snuggles, and just want to be on or near their servant...:):) I hope Lizzie will give you many years of joy and love, as my Dezi has for me!

She’s almost 10 inches and i read that 10 inches means they’re about 6 months old. What I read could be completely false but i gave no clue.

I got Lizzie out of exploration. I’ve always had dogs and cats and fish, but I aspire to become an exotic veterinarian. I figured that with this dream in mind, I need to make myself comfortable around reptiles, I wanted a snake but my dad completely refused which made me decide to do some research and I discovered bearded dragons. I begged until my dad finally allowed me to get my dear Lizzie ?.

You made the right decision when you chose a beardie! And I encourage you to follow your dream to be an exotic animals vet...I worked many years in zoos and wildlife rehab...you may never be rich in that field, but you will never be bored, either...Having a carreer that you love is so much better than a job that makes more money, but makes you miserable... A vet degree will take some time and effort, but it will be well worth it!

Try to find a zoo, sanctuary or even a vets office to do volunteer work. You will probably be given alot of cage cleaning jobs at first, but if you prove to be dedicated and trustworthy, they will take time to train you to do more hands on work with the animals. And they can guide you in getting the right degree for what you have in mind!

Meanwhile, keeping Lizzie will provide valuable experience. ???

Size is a hard way to measure age. Mine is 3.5 months old and over 13 inches. I know his exact hatch date. I feel like the pet stores always say 3 or 4 months as a crutch. The truth is, every dragon grows at different rates and to different sizes.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
