A lot of owners let their beardies run all over the house, but I've never done so unless I could keep a close eye on him. With the way beardies like to lick everything when they're exploring, I'm paranoid about him ingesting something bad for him. I let my guy run around on the couch a bit last night, but when he darted for the end table, I went after him. The end table is dusty and has lots of random little things on it, so I was worried about letting him go over there.

You can pick up a really cheap play pen for your little one and put safe items in it so they can explore. It's also great for taking them out side for some safe sun. A harness is also great for safe exercise :D We get it here. better safe then sorry with us BD lovers. (but, then you knew that  ) Hi Ziggy! :D

I read about a member on here that would go sit in her bathtub with her baby so that there was really nowhere for him to go and nothing to get into. Hey Ziggy!!

When Stella was much smaller, I was really hyper about her being out because she was so hard to find. I would block her into one room pretty much, and block all the things she could crawl under/behind with towels or pillows (under the dresser, behind the bookcases, etc)

Now that she's bigger, she can't hide as well (LOL) and she has her own "spots" where I know to look for her.

You can also set up a heating pad on low on the ground and train them to learn where it is. When they get cold, they'll find it and warm up on it. I had my last 2 trained to do this. If I couldn't find them for awhile, they'd eventually turn up on the heating pad.

When flames (my beardie) was a baby I too was paranoid about her creeping into a crack or getting lost in the couch with the remote and car keys. Even now that she is a few years old I still keep a watchful eye on her, but limit her to one room. I know the pet stores here sell animal play pens for hamsters, and other pocket pets. It is basically a small fence that you put on the floor and they are restricted to that area. You can buy more sections and add to it. If you get enough you can make it large enough so you have room to sit in it interact with your beardie. Just suggestion if that is available in your area, or give you ideas to build your own...

Big Bertha lives in a 4ft x 4 ft play yard made from shelf boards from Home Depot. I bought the 1 in x 12 in shelf boards (white laminate) and some corner brackets and stood the boards on the narrow end and connected them with the brackets. I also got a 4 ft square piece of rubber mat for the floor and some ceramic tiles to go over the mat. She has her bed, a cave, a plastic climbing log and this wooden thing that my husband made and covered with some old jeans so she could grip it easier. The picture shows her pen before we got all the ceramic tile in, but you can see that she has her basking space and can get closer or further away from her uvb tube, as she desires. I tried to make something similar in my laundry room, but she made it a point to keep escaping and I'd find her in the living room - the sunniest room in the house, so I moved the pen in there. She seems to like it better in the living room. It gets bright afternoon sun, and got pretty warm earlier this summer, so we shut the front door and turned on the AC. One of these days it will cool off again enough to leave the balcony door open for her again.

After the pen was completed, we added this little pink bed for her.

I let Mr Dargon have the run of the place once he was fully grown and wouldn't get stuck anywhere.

before that i let him run around in the hallway. that was the easiest place to block off for me. just close the doors and put a box to block the ends.

i love the play pen ideas, if i had a much larger living room i would do that too.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
