Hi all, I am a total newbie at this and beyond confused! My beardie is very tiny so I decided to get a 10 gal tank for now. I will get a much bigger one in a few months once he grows but all of the lights mentioned will not fit in my tank! What do I do for the time being? I got a kit with the tank and it included "Night Black Heat" (50W), "Day White Light" (50W) and the clerk told me I also had to get "Daylight Blue Repltile Bulb" (40W). Should I use both day lights and how should this be set up?? I want my Beardie to be as happy as possible! Please help!!

Please read the first post in this thread. It will explain EVERYTHING. To answer you, you do not have the correct set-up right now. But it isn't hard, I promise!

You need the UVB tube light, that gives your beardie the UVB rays he/she needs. And then you need a heat lamp/light. Anything else is optional.

Definitely read the first post. It will explain everything.

I have been going crazy :shock: looking for the light fixture. I finally figured out that finding a fixture for a 36" bulb was going to be near impossible, so I exchanged the bulb for a 24" and found the fixture...but oh wait! It took forever to find it at Wal-Mart. I had to order it online for store pick up. For those who have had a hard time, here is the name of it:

Lights of America 24" Under-Cabinet Light, White

Is that "white" light? Will it protect my beardie's eyes while he's basking? The light looks yellow to me (sorry if that is a dumb question, not sure I understand what is meant by "white light" to protect the eyes).

ETA: I had a GE bulb with Pudgy and honestly just grabbed this one because I was at the petstore and the owner (who has been breeding beardies for 30 years) reassured me it is perfectly safe.

@Pudgysmom, yes I have that basking bulb, it is perfectly safe, be sure to get your lamp off the screen though, these bulbs seem to be sensative to vibration and will shorten its life quickly :roll:

I have a Repti Glo compact 13w UVB 10.0 bulb for UVB lighting for use w/ my 30 gallon breeder tank w/ screen....however I am going to be changing this bulb to the ReptiSun 10.0 after reading this posting. I do not have the tube lighting, and I'm sure that is ok, right?

Compacts are bad, do change a soon as you are able. My Repti Glo 24" UVB tube is treating my Dojo just fine I'm happy to say :wink:
