LB has escaped???!?!?

About three weeks ago we bought our LB a new home! It is fantastic, a 4.5 ft long, 3 ft deep, 2.5? ft high custom wood enclosure. It has a removable glass front, three lights (heat, regular, and uv) a few climbing branches and a log to hide under. Also two screened in "doors " at the top!

We had some wood pieces on top so the cats don't crash thru the screen. Left today to enjoy mother's day with family and come home, LB is gone! He's about ten inches long right now and there was only one place we think he would have fit. There is a small hole in the screen at a place where its 2 ft off he ground. We can't find him. Locked cats in basement and opened front of enclosure in hopes he heads for his heat lamp. The good news is there is no sign the cats got to him we think but we are baffled how he escaped!

We have looked under all furniture so far. And no sign yet. I'm guessing that he is somewhere enclosed and small to avoid the cats. Turned on a space heater this morning to try and lure him out. Planning to move it during the day to new areas just in case it works. If he doesn't appear by mid afternoon I will start my thorough search under everything and in things too!

I've been following this since last night, I hope you find him soon! Maybe leave out a bowl of greens. Maybe if he gets hungry enough he'll come out of where ever he's is to eat. Just an idea :? I know how worried you must be!

did you look under the couch? could LB fit under the enclosure?

Mr. Dargon likes to try and wedge into spaces that he shouldn't be able to fit in. also when he gets tired he goes to where ever it is dark and sleeps.

did you take a flashlight and look in all the dark spaces?

try putting out food to coax him out. he's gotta be hungry.

Yeah food is a good idea! What a sneaky little boy!! Remember they can also fit through small areas by standing up then going through on their side...if you know what I mean? My dumb bf thought it would be a good idea to put Daisy and Yogi down in the grass in our fenced in backyard and see what they'd do awhile ago, and sure enough after a min or two, Yogi dashes across the backyard (HOLY can they move quick!) and stops at the fence wiggling his head back and forth frantically trying to fit his giant head through the space b/w the wood of the fence with no luck so we thought we were good...next second we see Yogi climb up the fence a bit so he was on his back legs/tail then just sorta slides or falls to the side RIGHT THROUGH the space in the fence into the neighbours backyard!! What a scare that was...luckily my bf hopped the fence after him and found him under a pile of sticks behind the neighbour's shed. Next time, Yogi gets a leash. lol

Good luck!!

Well no sign yet that I've seen at least! Flashlights have been shone everywhere it seems but we need to flip he couch up tonight. He could fit under enclosure but we can't see him. Need to move it too! Of course we are sitting here today letting the cats try to sniff him out! Seems to point towards the couch and computer area. Now they just don't care. To top everything off, our daughter (four) tells me just a little bit ago that she saw.lizard last night! Where? Behind the couch. Just sitting there? Yes. Did he move? Yeah. Where? Behind the computer. I of course can't find him back there or on any of the desk or shelves. But we at least know he's on this floor and somewhere around the couch if she isn't making it up. Sigh....four year olds!

I'm trying to think of all the weird places my beardies have gotten into inside the house...

If you have a couch that folds out into a bed, they can get under the couch and ALL UP in there - be very careful unfolding it while looking tho, what with all the hinges and stuff.

Don't just look under furniture with a flashlight - totally lift it up. Mine would huddle up just around the side of the openings where you couldn't see them.

Look in the dresser drawers - mine would crawl under the dresser, then climb up the drawers from the inside along the back, and fall asleep in a drawer.

In shoes.

That's all I can remember... Good luck!

Day three no sign of the little sneak. I have a space he can get into his enclosure to his food and heat lamp. Any big treats that may lure him out? He is spoiled with food and only likes his phoenix worms! When we switched to them, he left a cricket running free until it died!

I want to come over and help look!
When ever I dropped something and couldn't find it, I would drop another of the same thing and watch where it went to find the other item. It usually worked.
With that logic you should bring in another beardie (of same size), tie a really long string to it's foot, and let it loose to see where it goes. Maybe, just maybe, it will find your other beardie.

***thought!
Have you tried putting the heating light in the middle of the room with his basking log? Maybe he'll go to it?

That's great logic bunnyrut ! Besides, can you ever have too many beardies? :D Hmmm... Beardies like movement. I would put a large glass container of a hundred crickets down in the middle of the floor with a yellow glow stick inside. I have to cover my bug tanks when ever Myah is out as she just gets fixated on the little meal items. Just a suggestion. Good luck.

YES!

Tasty Treat ALWAYS runs to the cricket container!
Maybe a bunch of small plastic containers with crickets in them (with a lid on to prevent escapes) placed all around.

No sign yet! He has constant access to his foodnso hoping when he gets hungry enough he will appear. I am considering finding a search and rescue beardie to find him lol. The good news is I don't think he will starve himself intentionally right?

I have a new place to dig carefully thru based on a sniffing cat but waiting until the hubby comes home so I have help with the kiddos. One cat was sniffing the bottom of a box filled with dishes wrapped in newspaper. It has a beardie sized whole near where he sniffed. Hoping to find him in there! If not we keep waiting him out and leaving his heat lamp on!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
