Lazy Beardy

Im not 100% sure i should be worried.
My Bearded Dragon has always given me problems, he's been a right pain in the arse to look after and its just been problem after problem as you can see from all my posts.
The tanks fine
UVB 10% Arcadia
Basking end hitting temps of 34- 35
I calcium dust and vitiman regularly when i can
Hes always hydrated
regular veg

So heres the part i just dont get.
Why is he so damn lazy :banghead:
I see other beardys eating and running around and generally being hyperactive but mine... just isnt
He sleeps alot, ill come home from school and find him tucked away fast asleep, when hes out the tank he doesnt move alot and his mouth is always sligtly open, even when asleep
His eating pattern is irregular, he wont eat locusts, crickets, calci worms. Ive tried mixing up his diet but he just wont have it. He poos regularly aswell, i just dont get whats up with him. Any advice would be nice but i dont think its an emergency.

Since theyre only small, i feed them everyday and dust them every other day, i feed them locusts, crickets and calciworms

Calciworms another name for black soldier fly larvae don't need to be dusted.

The crickets definitely need dusting. do you use just a calcium supplement, a multivitamin, or both.

I don't know about locusts though.

How many bugs on average do they eat per feeding?

Venus recommends about 20-30 per feeding on her guide? but averages vary based on dragon.

How old is the UVB source , is it a compact ?
wattage ?
ow far from his basking spot ?
in a reflector dome or hood ?
ontop a mesh lid ?
how long are the UV and basking lights on each day ?

<<< mouth always slightly open can be an indicator that he's ill (suffering from a RI) , a vet should take a look at him and work out if he is sick the best treatment.

How old is your dragon ?

Laziness comes with the territory for adult bearded dragons outside breeding season.
Only hatchlings and juveniles are in the main hyperactive.

Hello,

How far is the Arcadia D3 12% tube from your dragon?
I was also going to mention about the temperatures too. The direct basking temperatures should
be in a range of 35 to 42 with a cooler end around 25 to 28. Perhaps he isn't warm enough?

Let us know how he is doing.

He is about 9-10 months old and there is a spot for him to get close to the UV light, ive just got a new UV bulb today since the other was 8 months old and ive read 9 is the limit, see about the feeding, sometimes he eats 1 or 2 sometimes he eats loads and other times he just wont eat for a few days

Think you may well have solved the problem . In adequate UVA can result in lethargy , lack of appetite , and even neurological issues in a reptile .... be patient but I think the boost in UVA & UVB will result in an almost immediate improvement , in a few weeks he's likely to be more active, more interested in feeding and perhaps not needing to bask as long ( to get the UV he requires each day ).

Please try to ensure he is getting access to high enough levels of UVA & UVB , see this for guidance :

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
