Laying on back myth?

I've seen several people on youtube, showing off their beadies laying on their back, and then jumping onto their legs, after some time.
In the comments, many people say that they die from it, because they can't breath. While others say their beadies can do it for several minutes, without anything happening.
Also, if they went onto their back themselves, there isn't any way they can die? Unless they want to commit suicide?

I doubt that they stop breathing on their backs, but I can imagine it is an uncomfortable and unnatural feeling for them.

i looked it up was curiouse could not find any info aside from multiple fourms like this one of people saying how their beardie was on its back and that they where worried for its health best thing to do is next time somone gose to a vet ask him or her a professional should know .....

but to be honest i dont think so cus wouldent a vet in order to do some check up stuff or surgury if they do this on lizards need to have the beardie on its back and i dont think they would put the animal on its back if they knew it was harmfull to breathing.

I am no docter but Surgury + inability to breath properly = BAD

From the research i've done on the anatomy of a bearded dragon, it doesn't seem their is anyway for the lungs to be crushed if a dragon is on its back.
I think its just how all anatomy is, stuff inside you doesn't really move around a lot to cause something like the lungs being crushed from laying on the back.

I don't really know about it killing dragons, but if you want to see an aggressive dragon, flipping it over is a sure fire way to see one.

All animals are not comfortable showing their stomach. When animals lay on their backs, you know that they are comfortable. Like, when a cat sleeps on its back.

However, with reptiles, it is increased. Their stomachs are the part that doesn't have defense mechanisms (like, with bearded dragons, they have spikes and a harder skin on their backs, and very soft and squishy skin on their tummys.)

I do not suggest putting your dragon on it's back, it stresses them out and it will make them angry, they will try to protect themselves and may bite you.

Well it's obvious they are super uncomfortable on their backs. I was told from an expert that is puts pressure on their lungs and can crush them.

Not a chance I would take. I will be sure to ask the vet next time I am there.

I already said I imagine it would be uncomfortable. But as for the actual question, the anatomy of a bearded dragon wouldn't allow the lungs to be crushed by being on their backs. I honestly can't see how it would put pressure on it either seeing as where the lungs are positioned in the body of a beardie.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
