This is Kuhbar. He was hatched late October 08, no uvb, no reasonable heat, no calcium or vitamins. Never had a bath until this morning. Fed mostly on greens only, crix were offered 2 times a month.

The viv he arrived in:

Kuhbar this morning after many changes. I placed him inside a spare 30b with a repti sun tube and a 60w flood light for heat. He just ate quite a bit of roaches, I think like 17 is what I dropped in there with him, calcium added, and 6 phoenix worms:

A close up of this sweet boy... no stress marks !:

This is just enough to make me quite angry ! I have been trying to tell this family the right way to do things for MONTHS ! Finally I get my hands on him, and see what condition he is in. I think I see early signs of mbd, his tail and toes are crooked, however he is still able to stand erect and hunt.

Two times a month?! o_O That is wrong on so many levels! And, if I remember correctly, babies really don't eat much greens. Just because he is a reptile, does not mean he should go longer without food just because he can. In my experience, people who are stubborn won't listen no matter what you say. They think they are right and you are wrong, even if you've had more experience. I won't name names, but I personally know a few people like that. Many get them from pet stores, which tell them the wrong information all the time, but becase they think what they are being told is correct, nothing can change their mind. In the end, I eventually told those select few that it is their dragon, and I can only offer advice. If they refuse to take it, then that's their problem and their beardie will suffer for it later.

You are very lucky you managed to get your hands on this little guy before anything really bad happened to him. And...is that the dreaded Calci-sand they were putting him on? :?

I know where he was purchased from, since I wanted him... but they got him first. I have seen their care sheet ( the pet store), it pretty much echos the one here, with a few exceptions.
I gave him a bath, and he drank and drank and drank !

He's got a sweet face. He looks like he's smiling under the lamp in your last picture. :) I'm so glad you got him.

I think he already knows that he will have a MUCH better life with you. I'm looking forward to updates.

I'm only going to have him for a month, it seems. This family is on vacation, and since boss knew I had dragons, she asked me if I would keep him for her. Now that I suspect pin worms, I suggested strongly she allowed me to keep him on for a month so I can medicate him free of the parasites.
Wish I could keep him, he's quite the sweet boy.

The only word I can come up with is "Uh oh".

You can do so much in a month, but I think it would be hard for you to watch all that work down the drain once he goes back to your boss. I think her son needs a good stern talking to. They need to get him off that Calci-sand and into a better cage. That one is WAY too short for him and he'll grow out of it fast (as you very well know).

Is he having diarreah? He must be VERY tolerant of his condition if he is not showing stress marks.

Since he needs medication for the pinworms anyway, maybe you could get some kind of letter or report from the vet about proper care? The family might listen better to a vet.

Poor boy, atleast they did the right think and are letting you keep him for a month...

When they back from vacation, you should invite them over and maybe if they see all the stuff you are doing for him and your current beardies, they may let you keep him knowing he is better off with you??

Or maybe they will finally listen to your advice when they see the good changes in him?

If they are definately taking him back, I would offer to go help them set up his new stuff....maybe if you go to their house and offer to help they will be more willing?

I hope everything works out for this baby :(

Changes will be made once the family returns from vacation, as I did invite the boss and her family to see mine ! They were more than impressed ! Once they saw even my micro dragon, Yardley, they realized that I had the right way to do things. The dad even went over all three enclosures mine are in, getting details from my older boy, while I was handing out the other two dragons (not yardley) to the two boys, and I was instructing the Boss (mom) about the removal of the sand, feeding correctly, uvb and heat lighting. I sent home what they had, and right in front of them replaced with a reptisun that has a few more months left on it, and a 60w flood light for heat. In a few minutes under that, Kuhbar started showing more color.

Oh yes, I feel quite positive about the good things that will come around for this little guy, once he goes back home.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
