So, I heard a smack in Gnecco's viv. Thought he'd finished off that one last cricket that had to come out of hiding after the breakfast massacre.

I glanced over to see if he was gloating on his basking rock. ... no one there.

I got up and walked over to look around on his floor inside the viv. ... no one there.

I look under all of his furniture (which is not much while he's small). ... no one there.

I panic!!! Where the heck?!? I reach to push open the screen and just before making a huge mistake, I see him.

My only response at this point is to grab the camera, "no one is going to believe this."

I guess he's willing to challenge that 'not a gecko' part of his name. That, or he wants to tan his pasty white belly.

That is too funny! Mine does the same thing! hahaha

Knecco is going to sunburn his tongue.

He's been enjoying his window-box vivarium for little over a month now. Eight hours of screen window sunlight aught to be enough UVB.

He is gaping a lot. Always with the full sun (except for the window screen) shining right on his tongue. It's like he's eating a sunbeam.

I thought that warranted a picture. So here it is. They are called Sun-Worshipers for a reason.

Aww, he's soo beautiful. When he grows a lot bigger, he'll probably be one of those beardies that like to try to escape their vivs. Barbara (fresnowitte) has one of those.

That's really funny you talk about escaping. Now Knecco has no top on his window-box viv. (He has his own room. I have to keep the door shut while the house has a kat, but hopefully the kat sitting won't go much longer.)

Funny thing is, he has never intentionally left his viv. He even has a fake vine he sleeps in, all the way to the top but never over the edge.

Then, I took him for a weekend trip to my parents house. I have a mesh screen tent (picnic food tent: not recommended) I bought for a portable vivarium. With the flap clothes-pinned closed during the summer he never left the tent. This winter, without much light coming in the windows, he got out through the clothes-pinned closed flap and hid. We tore the house apart looking for him. Completely removed all the furniture and everything from the room he had been in. We were getting ready to get started on the storage room next. My mom finally found him two rooms away tucked under a cloth book bag in a bookcase. Note: he wasn't in any of the 15 potted plants my parents have in that same room.

Back here again, he shows no interest in leaving his window box.
