Suzanne, it is great... I'm trying not to get too excited tho-I don't want to get ahead of myself or ahead of Kazi's recovery process! But I am a teeny bit over excited about it!

You know, I understand how you might want to control your joy but, by golly, after what the two of you have been through, it's totally ok to have a celebration when Kazi has a good day. Each day with him is a gift anyway so enjoy him as much as your heart wants to.

That is great Kazi had such a good day today! I hope he continues to feel better each day. I am happy to hear he is climbing around as normal now too.

Kazi totally tired himself out and wriggled himself into a corner to go to sleep before I even had a chance to get his bath ready. I decided to just let him rest and will just bath him tomoro morning.

Tracie, I looked in 3 stores for karo/corn syrup and couldnt find it. I came home and did a google search and discovered we dont get karo/corn syrup here and it is usually substituted with either golden syrup (inverted sugar made during the process of refining sugar) or treacle (a mixture of inverted sugar, mollasses and corn syrup). Do you think either of these would be safe to add? I have one more large supermarket to check out in the morning but from what I have discovered on google, its not going to be found easily

Hi Christine.

I am glad that Kazi is doing better. It seems this round of getting better is happening more quickly than the last one was. I'm glad of that. I think you are probably correct, it could be a food allergy. It's hard to figure out what food it causing the problems, especially with beardies.

I know of Karo syrup. I could probably find it for you but I would be afraid that the bottle would break in the long trip from Southern Arizona (right next to California) to England. I must have missed something, why do you need it? We don't use it as Bill is really hypoglycemic and can't have any kind of sugar.

Hi Lori! It is difficult to figure out but both times, he had fruit/feeders gut-loaded with fruit right before the reaction occurred so its the only explanation I can come up with for the reactions.... I know he has other things going on, but if I keep fruit out of his diet then hopefully the other problems he has can have time to heal.

I dont think I mentioned why I was needing the syrup. Tracie found some natural products that help the immune system and white cell production so I am not making Kazi an elixir from these things - I feel like an old-fashioned pharmacist, mixing up a herbal potion lol! He gets spirulina, green tea extract and vitamin b mixed with water to make a suspension. It is all dosed out according to his weight and the actual strength of each of the products (THANK YOU TRACIE!) and im hoping it helps inprove those levels over the next few weeks, so that his next blood test will be much better! However, the green tea extract isnt really mixing very well so Tracie suggested corn/karo syrup to help suspend it - of course it has to be unavailable over here - I have one more store to try so im hoping they have something along those lines.

EDIT - to add a Kazi update! Today, he got up on his little log to bask!!!! It wasn't under the heat light so I had to move it over a little but this is the first time that he has got up there in the morning!!!!! Now, to get him his lunch!!!!

Unless there is a reason why you shouldn't use regular sugar, you could make what's called a simply syrup from sugar and water. I don't know the proportions off hand but you slowly boil the mixture down until it's the consistency you want. Best to use a candy thermometer.

Maybe after this post I will start getting your thread updates again! I was about to pm you when I saw you HAD been updating.

All these natural remedies seem to be working! And your decision to try a dubia colony seems to have even perked Kazi up!

I know you want to take it slow with the celebrating...so let's just *simply* for joy at the current progress, shall we? :mrgreen:

Sherri, the whole lighting fiasco has me sooooo angry!!!!!

I ordered last Thursday, next day delivery, then they said it would be Tuesday... that was ok. On Tuesday, they said it would be Wednesday. On Wednesday I emailed to try to cancel - on Thursday they replied saying they had just dispatched it and it would be here today. At 5.50pm, I called the courier. They said that it was a 2 day service to get it to me despite me paying NEXT DAY delivery and that I would get it on TUESDAY!! I called the company I ordered from, they dont answer! ARGH! Now, I just need to find out how I can get my money back and then I will just refuse to take it when it is delivered.

PS - everyone - I posted in health about a beardie with possible eye issues - given that I spend all of my time looking at 2 and 3 year old beardies im not sure that this beardies eyes or normal or not - if you get a chance, take a look and give me your opinions if you can - thankyou!!!
