I'm so excited that tomorrow (10/13/09) my new little Beardie daughter Fiona :love10: will start her journey home! Princess Fiona was born in California,Barbara (fresnowitte) has been preparing her for her forever home in Washington. Her parents are PVT Blaze and Ms. Tiggs, some of you know her brother Bligg. I am anxiously awaiting her arrival! So without further adu, here is Princess Fiona

Thanks everyone!!! I couldn't be happier! Poor little darling, I let her bask for a bit and she ate 5 more crickets but now she's starting to show stress marks  I loved her creamy tummy...
Dawn~ did Bliggy get stress marks? If so how long did they last?
Barbara~ what's her favorite foods so I can make her comfortable? Right now, I am serving mustard and collard greens, orange bell pepper, zuccini and grated apple...

What your feeding her right now are all things she is accustom to.
Sometimes I have to wonder if color has alot to do with it...
She loves everything but I've noticed that she will pic out the yellow squash and butternut and red chard first...then she goes for the fruit and so far strawberries are the only thing I tried that she wasn't interested in. She loves melons(especially cantelope) but beware sometimes when they eat watermelon it might come out reddish and freak you out. I do it every time! Freak because I see red in the poop and then slap myself upside the head because I remember I fed watermelon. Duh!

I know you read all the time that you should let them settle in before handling to much but I really have mixed feeling on that. I think she would find comfort in sitting on your son for little people snuggles. If she has stress marks bad enough to make you sad then pick her up and hold her for awhile I bet they go away. See how our masters work? She is already trying to train you.

If the stress marks don't go away when you take her out and hold her then return her to her viv and let her do it on her own. She does sleep and snuggle into a blankie so that might make her feel better if you gave her one. But I'd let hold her so she get your scent then us a shirt or something with your smell on it to let her sleep in if you have a trouble with her settling in. But like Dawn mentioned Bliggy didn't much like the burrito thing...little beardies often don't it makes them feel trapped.

Can't wait to hear what your son says.

Psst! Baby #2 made it safely Suzie will be posting later.

Oh Barbara, you're the best Beardie Mom! You sure know your babies! I took her out, loved on her, gave her a bath and her stress marks went away!
I already see the difference between her and Fez, he had stress marks when I bought him and it's not often that they go away...I have tried holding him, bathing him, leaving him alone... :?: He is not nearly as affectionate as Fiona!
Here is her after bath beardie burrito pic

Awww! Look at that baby.
Bliggy only had stress marks for a short time. He really took to me right away. I'm sure it's because Barbara handles her beardies and so does her family. So they are used to the attention.
I think so many of those babies that come from pet stores don't get too much handling or one on one time with humans. They tend to be a bit more skittish.

You have to let us know what your sons say about Fiona.

Awww, take a look at Fiona, what a sweetie. Sounds like she is settling in quite well. Can't wait to hear what the rest of the family has to say about her. Barbara, you can breathe 2 BIG sighs of relief now, they both arrived safe & sound. You and Frank should sleep better tonight.

I'm so glad that the kids were pleased. :D

Yeah!
Her tail has been looking like it's going to shed for several days now.

Thanks for sharing that pic of Andres, Fez, and Fiona I love it. :)

Oh I meant to ask how did she like the beardie burrito?
She seems to be doing okay with it in that pic.

Barb~ She loved the beardie burrito! She totally mellowed out when I wrapped her up! Her stress marks are all gone and she ate a few more crickets!!! I've offered crickets to her 3 times just to make sure that she's full in case she goes off food for a few days. I hope that doesn't happen though, she has settled in really well. I did want to ask one more thing, at night did she have any kind of blankie??

Thanks again to all of you for the kind words!!

Sometimes she'd use the blankie and sometimes she'd sleep under the paper towels.
It nice she let you do the burrito :D sometimes when they are not use to you they
can be uncooperative.

I'll check back in in the morning I'm bushed girlie and heading off to bed.

Good-Night!

Good-Night Princess!

Hugs & Snuggles!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
