Just recently got a baby BD

Hello everyone I'm new to this site and i jus recently got a baby bd i did some research . I just wont 2 give some people the rundown of what i have and c if its good. By the way he only bout 2inchs. ok i got a 55gallon tank i have reptile carpet on the bottom of the tank. On one side of the tank i have a nice fake tree stup that go past tha half point to the top of the tank i got a 100watt basking light rite now it reads 107"F .on the other side of the tank i have his water dish and his food bowl on tha top i have a 10.0 UVB light.

I feed him 2-3 times daily rite now hes only eating the cricket he wnt eat no veggie i onle had him for a week but he very actie n tha dy time as of rite now he has a lot of room 2 roam at night i got one of them lamp that put out heat but no light is that ok i make sure i gutload his food and dust it wit D3

So if u dnt mine can u take a look at my setup and tell me wat u think i will b making a pic album soon

Your setup seems fine, but what brand of 10.0 do you have? Is it Reptisun or Reptiglo? It's very important you have the right one.

Don't worry too much about veggies yet. He's still very young and he won't need them for a while. Keep feeding them every day though, so he will get used to eating them. As he gets older, decrease the amounts of crickets and feed more veggies. You need calcium with D3 and a I use reptile vitamins without D3 (Zoo Meds)!!! There are a few more choices out there!!! Some people don't even use the vitamins at all!! Hope this helps!!! You can also Click the link up at the top theres all types of great info there!!

RepCal Herptivite is the best kind of multivitamin supplement; it uses beta carotene instead of vitamin A, which is toxic to beardies.


I would like to clarify one other thing, there is much controversy as to whether or not beardies need additional D3, aside from what they get from their UV lights. It *is* possible for them to overdose on D3, although no studies have been able to prove how much is harmful. So, it's up to you, whether you want to use calcium with D3 or calcium without D3.

Yes, but we don't know if that's enough. People who have MVBs for their beardies use calcium without D3, due to a MVB's powerful UV output. The ReptiSun 10.0 is a fluorescent tube, not a MVB, so it's up to you.

Keep in mind that beardies can overdose on calcium, too, not just D3; whatever you decide, make sure your beardie is getting proper amounts. Here's a great site with some charts showing how much calcium and vitamins beardies of certain ages need.
