Jade is going on holiday tomorrow...

Hello All,

I have never posted a new topic in Beardie Tales...I thought it was about time I did!

Well Jade is going on holiday tomorrow...

Me and my boyfriend are going to Valencia for a week and we have had a bad experience leaving Jade housed in a pet shop when we went away before. My parents, whose first words when we got Jade was "Well we won't be looking after your lizard" have offered to have him for the week! Well my mum has offered...my dad convinced.

Last week mum and I went out shopping and she has bought Jade a new viv and complete set up which will be in my old bedroom so that he can go and visit and have his own holiday home!!

I am taking him on the hour drive tomorrow and staying with him till he falls asleep so that I see him settle into it. My mum, who surprisingly fell in love with him the first time she saw him, is really looking forward to playing grandma to Jade for the week and hopes to overcome her fear of feeding him "creepy crawlies" her words not mine!

I will let you all know how he settles and how his weeks holiday goes when I return. God I am gonna miss him like mad...I only hope that he will want to come home. ha ha

I hope he does alright on his little holiday. "over the river and through the woods, to grandmothers house we go" :lol: My mom loves my beardie, and every time my fiance and I go away on vacation she always ask "who is going to take care of Harley(and Spike)?" She always looks sad when she ask like she is expecting me to say that someone else is going to take care of them. The only problem I have with my mother taking care of my lizard is that she calls me like 20 times a day to ask me question, or just to tell me the funny thing they do. It is kind of cute though.

Aww...that is so sweet that your parents are going to watch Jade for you.
They even set up a viv just for when she is visiting. That's awesome!
I too hope that Jade loves his holiday with the grandparents. :wink:

That is really sweet, she must really love looking after your babies.

It's such a relief, because this way I had control of what bulbs / substrate etc that he will be living with while I am away and have the peace of mind that he will be loved. I was so grateful.

Hello all,

Myself and Jade are both back from our holidays.

Jade had a lovely time with granny, he was spoiled absolutely rotten! He got on great with Bonnie (their rat terrier) and was allowed on the sofa despite pooing on it twice!! ha ha.

He settled into his holiday home well and has had no problems being relocated into his viv back home again. Phew. It was so lovely to finally come home to a happy healthy beardie!!

Like us humans...Jade has come back of holiday with his skin peeling! :roll:
