Jace, Zy, Sorin, Ava, Nissa, & Koth -->Update 12-18 w/ Pics

I'm relatively new to this website, though I have posted questions prior to this "blog." I fell in love with bearded dragons on a trip to Petco. I've always wanted a reptile and I have a dragon statue collection at home so it seemed perfect. Jace, however, was not my first beardie. My first beardie was one of the two smaller ones. The employees hadn't gotten around to putting on of the little ones up for adoption because he would have a seizure whenever he was picked up. They were pretty sure the one I had picked wasn't the seizure one. I bought him the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and am sad to say I returned him that following Monday. This one had seizures whenever he was put down. I knew, being a new owner, that it would be better for the both of us if I returned him to Petco and that was when I got Jace, the love of my life. On a side note, the two that suffered from seizures got adopted to loving homes where someone can take care of them . Anyways, on to my picture show.

This was my first night with Jace. He no longer has that cage - he is in a bigger one and on tiles instead.

The first week montage:

Ava Update:
She's still refusing to eat. If these worms we're getting in don't do the trick, I don't know what to do.

I HATE the USPS. The bugs were supposed to come in today but guess what isn't here? They're always here by now and the mailman has already been here. The USPS has not updated since 5pm last night. They need to get their **** together. I did not pay for 2-day mail for it to arrive later than two days.

Maybe they got delivered to the wrong house? I remember Spoony(I think) went through that with one of her orders, it was delivered to a neighbors house.

So I called the USPS and spent a good 30 minutes trying to get a real person and not that automated voice crap. I found that if you start cussing it out, it has no idea what you're saying and will transfer you to a real person.

The first person I got was a total dud. She sounded like an older woman who smoked a lot and she was useless. She just plain did't care and I was a raging. Hung up and called again and the second time I got a man. He was very nice and very helpful. He explained to me their tracking system and what not and told me there's a slim chance I may see it today, but not to hold my breath.

That's what makes me so mad! I pay for two day shipping and get three. I'm not a roll with the punches girl. I'm a "It's my mail and I want it now!" kind of girl.

Instead Jace had his baby food concoction. He's eating that well enough. Sorin refused to eat today so I guess relocation is starting to hit. Ugh. I guess I can't expect the phoenix worms to be here tomorrow either.

The Carnivore Care and oral syringes I ordered shipped out today.

I'm sorry, hope you get them quickly. I have started having USPS hold my packages at the post office for pickup, it worked really well with my order of phoenix worms. But the last two times I ordered dubia, I didn't ask for a post office hold, and they were obviously sat in the sun and a lot were DOA by the time I got them. USPS just doesn't work so well these days, especially for live bugs.

Carnivore Care is good stuff, one of my geckos survived on it for months before I got her eating again after an abscess surgery.

I think after this I'm gonna pay the extra cash and either use FedEX or UPS

With the big bug orders I think I will too...it's just not worth it to save $5-10 on shipping if your $40-50+ order of bugs shows up dead, or goes missing just when you need it most!

Sorry to hear about your problems with USPS, must be very frustrating! We moan about the mail in the UK, but on the whole they do seem to be more reliable than the services you guys get.
Good luck with Ava's appointment - hope the vet manages to get the blood test this time.
Just wanted to let you know that I read the preview of your book on Amazon and really got into it, so I've downloaded it for my Kindle. So hopefully that is some more royalties coming your way. I don't normally buy full price books as I read such a lot, so I look out for discounted ones, but happy to contribute towards lizard food 8) You do realise that the pressure is on now and you need to get book 2 going? :wink:

Hi, Snowy and thanks for stopping by.

It's just are standard mail carrier that sucks so if we want better service we have to pay extra for it so I guess it's all "you get what you pay for." I'm glad to know it's not just the U.S.'s.

Thanks, I'm giving her a sauna tonight and tomorrow before the appointment so hopefully that will get the blood flowing really well so the vet can get what she needs. I'm hoping and praying Ava gives enough.

The phoenix worms will definitely be here today - they're in the next town over. I'm not sure about the other bugs though. Their tracking information still hasn't been updated.

I got Ava's appointment moved to 2pm instead of 3:40.

So I got a good amount of turkey/sweet potato baby food, pumpkin, and bee pollen down Jace today and then hand fed him some greens which he scarfed down. I hand fed some greens to Sorin and he actually ate them! :shock: He still won't eat crickets hand fed or free ranging, but I think it's my fault for filling him up on greens. I hand fed to Zy as well for some mother/daughter bonding time and she wasn't as enthused about it, but took it. "But Mo-om, I'm a big girl now! Fine..." I also got some pumpkin in her to get her to poop before the trip to Kristine's.

Everyone will get a bath at 11:00am to convince them to poop in there in stead. I really need Zy to poo before the trip and I'm sure Paul would appreciate her pooping here in stead of on him while driving.

We gave Ava her sauna and will be giving her a second one before we leave. She was not impressed. She had a little of the bee pollen/repashy/water mix yesterday. I'm hoping it did the trick...or at least helped.
