6 - 8 " for the Repti-Sun. I think the 10" away was in regards to the Repti-glo.
That is correct. Since there have been some issues with the Repti-Glo 10.0, the safest way to use it is with it 10" from your beardie. Since the Repti-Sun is a better bulb and no health issues associated with it, then it can be 6 to 8" away.

The reason the repti-glo causes health issues is because it emits a slightly higher amount of UV-C and too little light, so the beardie's eyes dilate and then absorb too much UV-C, leading to eye problems. If you have sufficient ambient lighting (such as a halogen or broader beam light) then you should be fine.

I made the change to a MegaRay mercury vapor bulb, and I've already noticed a significant difference in activity and appetite. If you're considering changing to that I'd recommend it!

I really like your tank though, A very clean, good looking enclosure.

The proper distance from a good UV source should only be about 6 inches. Using the reptiGLO 10.0 bulbs requires further distance as the bulb has been linked to eye problems. I suggest buying reptiSUN 10.0 bulbs. Petmountain.com has them for about $20.
Also, your beardie should be eating small crickets... about 1/4 inch size. And he should be eating between 50 and 100 crickets per day. Dividing them up into three or four feedings generally works best. Are you using calcium and vitamin supplements for your little one? If so, what kind? Proper calcium intake is essential to beardie growth and overall health.

Yeah i am using calcium and vitamin suppliments, he is 10 inches right now and already eating bigger crickets...a little bigger than 1/2 inch. are these too big? they are about the size between his eyes. and he eats about 20 a day with veggies. maybe crickets are too big and filling him up?

I would stick to the 1/4-1/2 inch crickets for him. But he should be eating more than 20 per day. Usually when the UVB isn't the best and the basking temps aren't right, their appetite will decrease. My babies generally eat about 75 crickets each day along with at least one bowl of salad. You should see improvement in his eating habits if you switch him to a different UV source. What kind of calcium are you using and how often?

I'm not sure how good the calcium is that you are using. Double check if it has D3 in it. With the UV lights you're using, you will need D3 in the calcium. Are you dusting one feeding per day, five days per week? You may also want to grab some RepCal Herptivite, too. It's a good vitamin supplement. With babies, you would use it on one feeding, two times per week.
It's great that you ordered the new bulbs. Make sure you either lower your lights or raise you basking platforms when they arrive so that your beardie is within 6 inches of the bulbs. And don't forget to double check basking temps. When you start adjusting heights of platforms, the temps may change a bit. Do you have a digital thermometer or infrared temp gun?

Hi
As already been stated your setup looks really apart from stick on dial which i think you said you have now got a digital thermometer with wire probes. The other thing is them damn reptiglo 10.0 they are rubbish had one and my beardie nando hardly opened his eyes and he didnt eat that much.I ended up getting an mvb (megaray and trex as a spare) the difference in him is incredible eating colours activity etc.Im sure you have been already told a reptisun 10.0 is a far better bulb than that reptiglo and just by fitting that you will see big changes in your beardie.

It sounds like you are on the right track! Keep trying to increase the amount of feeders that your little one is eating. Protein is so important for growing beardies. Also, check out http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html for an easy to read guide for veggies and different feeders. Everything is color coded, so its super simple. Plus you can print it and use it as a shopping list, too.
Good luck with your baby. And keep us all updated on his progress. I think you will see some great improvements with the new UV bulbs. :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
