Well, I used to think Puff was impacted often but now I'm not sure. She is housed on sand (I kno I kno) but 2/3 of the sand is covered by a blanket and I left some on her basking side cuz she likes to dig. So, she used to go for like a week without pooing but when she DID, everything looked totally normal and no indigested crix or other food. Now, my question is, is it ok if she only poos once every week? I kno its not normal but she doesnt seem affected and like I said, her poo looks more than healthy. SO yea. Is this ok?

No. Toxins shouldn't be in the body for a week at a time.

2 of mine poop 2-4 times daily the other at least 1. Don' t wanna sound like a d..k but if you know you know than why continue to use it?

How old is Puff, and what is her diet, and how often does she drink ? You might put her in about 2 inches of lukewarm water once a week, she could drink and this could also get her to have a bowel movement. You can also give her water by using a spray bottle to gently and slowly spray the tip of her nose, mine all drink that way. She should have veggies in her diet, collard, turnip, mustard greens, etc. If she is an adult, once a week is not all that bad, I don't think their digestive system would be harmed by toxins actually. They can eat dead and half rotten things that we could never handle, just like many animals can. A vulture can eat an animal that has died from most any disease known to man and be unaffected.

And, kngofnwyk (did i spell that right?) I try hard to keep it mostly covered up but my mom is convinced that it is their natural substrate and refuses to let me dump it out. sure, maybe this sounds stupid because im blaming it all on my mom but im not kidding. She wont let me use paper towels, newspaper, cloth (only partly), or repti-carpet even. she WANTS me to use wood chips. my dad and i are building her a new viv w/ tile flooring i kno i have been saying this for months but it has never dry here for more than a day. but my dad ordered the glass last weekend and we will build it SOON

AHBD, Puff is about 10 mos. She eats crix, occasionally mealies and wax worms. we put carrots, carrot greens (not always the greens), collards, and apple in her salads. she doesnt drink though it is always provided. I do give her baths every 2 day to once a week and it is about 2 inches and lukewarm-95 degrees. She did drink a lot once a week or so ago and seemed to like it but she hasnt done it again. and thanks your info was helpful. i did used to think she had MBD but she only showed one symptom and that might not even been from MBD, it could have just been bone damage from sibling chewing on her fingers- she's a handi-capped beardie

Sorry I just read horror stories on here everyday about sand, I would hate for you and your beardie to have to go through that, gl with your new viv building

At 10 months she is still growing, so she should be having more frequent bowel movements. Does she eat well, and do you know her length + weight ? Is her basking temp. 105-110 degrees F.? If it's not hot enough, this will affect her appetite and her b.m's.

kngofnwyk, yea i kno i read those a lot and they are so sad. like i said, i try to keep most of the sand covered up. and yea, thanks!
AHBD, she does eat pretty well. it varies though. she goes through phases of not liking crix and liking them, thats the only problem. she is 7" exactly from tip of nose to base of tail. we get our scale back tomorrow so ill tell you her weight then. during the day, her basking temps are below 105 prolly more around 95-102ish.... i kno thats bad and as i said, her new viv will be done soon and we will up the wattage of her bulb. lately, it has been around 30degrees outside and maybe 60 in my/her room we werent expecting weather like this when we got her in the summer... i am hoping all will be well once we have her moved into her new viv... i have about $125ish saved up for supplies and decor so to make sure shes happy. all i want is for her to be happy + healthy. i love her soo much
