is there something wrong with my BD?

I noticed his face was weird looking with black marks on the one side... maybe my other BD pooped on him? he was given a bath and I lightly rubbed around on his face to see if it would come off but it didn't... my female BD sits as high as she can on the tree branch and poops from there spraying it all over...

I have pictures of his face but don't remember how to get them uploaded on here..

Hi,

After reading about your setup, a couple of things came to my attention. Firstly, please, if there's any way you can, please separate your beardies into their own homes. Beardies are extremely territorial, and the marks on his chin/neck may very well be stress marks. One beardie will be dominant, and the other will be submissive. You can tell which is which easily by several key issues.

1. One beardie will lie on top of the other. The top one is dominant.
2. The submissive one will seem or look stressed (stress marks or black beard, or black tail tip)
3. The submissive beardie will eat less and be smaller
4. The submissive beardie will shy away from the dominant one, or seem less active
5. The dominant beardie may suddenly and without warning attack the submissive beardie - even if they've lived together seemingly in a peaceful manner for quite some time.

The second thing that I would recommend you do is turn off the repti-sun 5.0 and as soon as you can, please replace it with the repti-sun 10.0 tube light. The repti-sun 5.0 does not put out enough UVB and can actually be dangerous to your beardies as a result. I have a male and female... they take turns laying on top of each other... they get along great... I will go out and get a new bulb tomorrow...

after panicking about it my husband took him and used a cloth on his face and it is dirt.. she must have pooped on him.... she just lets it fly... tried training her to go on the floor but she likes getting on the top part of the branch hangs her butt over it and goes all over, almost like shes spraying

I would recommend separating your BDs. The repti-sun 10.0 is the way to go. It sounds like the poop is really loose. If it is that lose I would recommend a fecal test for parasites. I know that they are looking like they are getting along but it just takes a second and you have a severely wounded BD that needs to be taken to the vet.

If you indeed have a male and female together the least that will happen is they will mate and you will have to find some way of taking care of 30 babies. The female can be over bred and become stressed and sick because of it. And as stated before they can hurt each other. Also one lying on top of the other looks cute but there's a reason for it, they want to get to the UVB and will use each other as stools to get the most of it, leaving the one on the bottom with significantly less exposure.

Sorry if you feel like we're ganging up on you over this, but we have our reasons. There have been countless injuries and premature deaths that have come from multiple dragons in one enclosure.
