Is my tank too small?

Hey fellow Dragon carers!

I have 2 bearded dragons, approximately 40cm long and I think they need a bigger tank. I had a 90 x 60 x 60 tank before and they seemed to really love that, but then it smashed when we were moving. I had a spare tank that I got free from the breeders who sold me the dragons but it was only a 45 x 45 x 90 tank and I feel as if it is too small for them both.

I let them out of their tank almost everyday, on my desk and outside. My question is, is the tank too small and if so, how big a tank do I need and where can I get such a tank in Sydney Australia?

Thanks in advance!

Are both of these bearded dragons female? Cause if not, you should not house them together if you are. Even then, I suggest against it.
For bearded dragons their size, that tank (assuming you are talking centimeters) is a decent size for one of them. Keyword, one.

Saw you're other thread and saw that you keep a male and a female together. I do not suggest you keep them together in such a small tank if you can help it. Even if they are a breeding pair, the male can and probably will dominate the female if possible, and will most likely keep trying to mate with her. Unless the female has a way to get away from him, she will almost definitely become really stressed from this.
If you are really stubborn about this and want to keep them together, you need to give them their own set area, which means two different basking spots, hides, and everything else so they don't run into any issues, and assuming I got the size right, there is no way that you can properly do that for a tank that size. You will also want to get something for the female to go to so she can get away from the male if she wants to. You should just keep one in a plastic bin for now until you can get them a tank (preferably tanks).

Thanks so much for the replies, yes, I do have a male and female. They've been together with a breeder for a year and they've been with me for 4ish years. The female has also been with other males before that.

I think it may be for the best if I separate them, but I don't want to choose favorites, and plus I only have 1 UV and heat lamp so they have to be together at least some of the time.

On the subject of mating, while the male does bully the female a bit, and they did used to be a breeding pair, for the last two years he hasn't tried mating with her (atleast that I've seen). He shows his big black beard and does his head bobbing but doesn't bite her or climb over her (unless they're basking, but that's less to do with mating).

At this point, I can't see me seperating them in the near future. Is there a way I can at least improve life for the female while I search for a second/bigger tank?

(PS. Yes, I was talking centimeters)

Yeah, it is still very important that they both get their heat and uvb. Well, there are a few things you could try.
You could try to use something like a small sheet of cardboard to prevent them from getting to each other and making it so the uvb and the heat lamp can hit both sides for them. Obviously this isn't optimal either because of the lack of space for them.
You could also try to do the same thing by getting it so that the lamps hang over the tank as well as the plastic bin. This option would definitely be preferable to the first.
Also, if it is warmer outside where you are, you could try taking them out for heat.
I couldn't tell you what you could do to prevent them from getting at each other with any real certainty. You could at least try providing a separate hide at least, as well as make two different spots in the tank for both of them to use for basking. It will be cramped for them either way, though.
I wouldn't worry about playing favorites too much so long as you can make both of them happy and healthy in the end.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
