Hi everyone!
I took my 1 year old beardie to the vet the other day for a check up, only to have her tell me she thinks he might be a girl. I bought him under the impression that he was, indeed, a 'he', and checked on my own. He appears to have the 2 hemipenal bulges that males have, but my vet says that sometimes the muscles in a female's tail can appear that way? Anyone else heard of this? Also, his femoral pores are very small, like a females'. He's still pretty young, and a bit on the small side for his age, but at what age do they become more noticeable in males? I'm getting mixed signals!
Here's a photo of his "bumps". Not a great photo, but the best i can do for now!
I'd be willing to get a photo of his femoral pores as well, if he's at an age where it makes a difference.
Any help you guys could offer on sexing my baby Dimitri would be awesome.
And a small note -- his gender really doesn't make a difference to me, he is an only dragon and I will love him/her either way. I'm just curious! Are there any other ways to determine a beardie's gender?
