I've had Saphira since September of 2014 and she's 3 years old. Within the last week she has gotten thin looking and lethargic - she just lays around and doesn't bask much. She still eats, but she doesn't poop as much. Even today her tank is spotless and I cleaned it three days ago. The temperature is still the same in her tank, but I'm wondering if she's going through brumation. I live in Central Florida, so it's in the 70's in my house all the time and her tank always has her basking/warm side and her cool side.
I was just wondering if she looks thin or "off" to you guys. She hasn't pooped in several days, even though she ate a lot yesterday and today. She ate hibiscus leaves and rose petals today, and hibiscus leaves and a hibiscus flower yesterday. Within the last week she's had bananas (new to try, so could this be a problem for her?), cactus pears, green beans, peas, and mulberries (leaves and berries).
So, if she is sick, might it be from the bananas? She didn't eat that many slices (maybe only 1/6th of the banana) but she loved it and had fun chowing down. This is the first time she's ever eaten bananas, though. My last beardie loved them, so I thought I would try them.
She ate this morning around 9 am and no (at 4:30 pm) she's eating again. Her belly looks bigger now, but my fiance says that he thinks he can see her hip bones now. And now (at 4:40 pm) she is actually drinking, which I've never seen her do. She looks perkier though, and she's been shedding about once every two months.
What do you guys think? Also, please don't advise me to take her to the vet. The closet vet is over an hour away and my car is down due to sabotage. Plus, even if I got a ride that vet wants $60 to just see the animal - I'm used to paying $20 for my local vet to see my dog or cat.
