Is my Beardie acting lethargic?

So my main concern here is my bearded dragon has been acting kinda lazy. I feed him dead mealworms crickets and grasshoppers covered in calcium with cabbage or other veggies and he's has fresh water and adequate lighting.today when I got home he was laying under his log with his back legs stretched out in the back and his head low. When I play with him he is energetic but I'm just worried about while he's in his tank.

HI there and welcome to the forum! Could you pls tell us a little more about your dragon and your set up, like age and tank size, lighting and diet? It might help us to get a better idea of what's going on. Reading through the care sheets here on this site could help you out also.

As previously mentioned please give us info on your setup. Not that we doubt you but "adequate" doesn't help us help you..
How old is your beardie? Is it shedding? Does it defecate regularly and what is the consistency of said feces?
Does it ever get live feeders? Assuming you mean commercial bought dried food. Unfortunately they do not provide a sufficient diet for a beardies life, they are generally to be fed in addition to live feeders or if somebody is looking after you beardie temporarily. Dried food should not be a staple.
Any idea on humidity and heat in the enclosure?
please provide some specifics :)

How old is your dragon? How big is he?

What size enclosure do you have him in? What is his basking surface temp? How are you recording this temp? What kind of lights do you have him under, both for heat and UVB? What is his feeding schedule like, How often does he eat live feeders, how many is he eating per feeding? What live feeders are you feeding and where are you getting them? What are you dusting them with and how often? Mealworms really arent that great for bearded dragons, I would refrain on feeding them. how often does he get greens?

I think you will find many people on here are very willing to help, we just require a lot of info to accurately do so, since we are not there physically.

So I can't give you a ton of info at the moment because I'm at school. But I can tell you I'm pretty sure it's a 40 or 50 gallon ,hes offered greens every day. He has a log that he can go under and climb on top of and fresh water everyday, he also has other rocks to bask on. He is about 8 months old. I can offer more info later thank you for the concern!

Need accurate temps and at least lighting brands, age of uvb also.
How do you measure your temps?
again if it is shedding at all that can be a reason for laziness also. It's not always something bad.

Hi Collin.....can you post pics of your dragon, his set up and also the bulbs ? Zoo med doesn't make a 60 watt uvb bulb, it's probably just a uva basking bulb. If that's the case then he probably doesn't have a uvb bulb which is very important for over all health and help him to absorb calcium.

Sounds like you are using two basking lights , you need to get a tube UVB light asap. T8 would work, but since you dont have anything yet, might as well get t5. Here are some fixtures that will work for providing UVB.

This fixture

with this bulb

or if you can spend a little bit extra..this combo

Also, how are you recording your temps? Your surface temps on your basking spot need to be 105-110. lower then that will not allow for proper digestion or nutrient absorption. Your cool side needs to be around 80 degrees, so that your beardie can thermoregulate himself. It is also very important to have consistent temps, taken with a proper temp recording device such as an IR temp gun or a digital thermometer with probe.

How often and how much are you feeding him live feeders? Dragons under a year should be offered live food 2-3x a week, as many as they can eat in a 10 to 15 minute period. What are you using as your staple live feeder?

So I think I said the name wrong the uvb light I have is a white tube. His temps are watched by a rectangle slab that sticks on the Tank. He isnt being fed live feeders I stopped about a month ago thinking it was okay to give dead 1s with calcium. I can start giving him live crickets again tho if that's what it takes

Those stick on thermometers arent really reliable, they not to mention theyre recording ambient temp in your tank , not surface temps on your basking spot. If your stick on thermometer is showing 105, your basking spot is probably 125 or higher.

Also, you may consider switching bulbs, and maybe even fixtures. Those have pretty low UVI even at optimal distance. A reptisun 10.0 or an arcadia 12 would do much better, or if you can afford it switching to a t5 fixture w/reflector and either a t5 reptisun 10.0 or a t5 arcadia 12, that would be ideal. The t5 bulbs give out optimal UVB levels at 12-14" . Keep in mind if you stick with t8 and just get a better bulb, your lizard still needs to be able to get within 6 to 8 inches to receive adequate UVB.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
