Intro: Possible Beardie Rescue

Good Morning bearded dragon community! My name is Vivica and I am from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
I have perused other introductions and have become increasingly giddy about obtaining a rescue from a man named Ryan in Northeast Philadelphia. He says his beardie is in a 40gal, with 2 heat rocks and water dish for only $70. Part of me is afraid... I know beardies need UVB lamps for nutrition and health, and a proper basking light with generous amounts of basking equipment. I know wrong or right, i'm gonna take this beardie--and go to the vet for a checkup. But today when I go over, i'll look for signs of lethargy or discoloration...hopefully i'm getting revved up about nothing! My number one priority is providing a good home for years to come and ensure optimal health.

I've had nothing but three hours of sleep last night. I just can't stop thinking about bringing the beardie home!
Wish me luck, and my 'adopted beardie to be' good health!

Pictures to come soon!

Thank you very much! I brought the beardie home and found out he was a 1 1/2 year old male named zeus. I haven't picked him up yet, because I want to give him time to get used to his surroundings. I believe in slow introductions. He seems comfortable already though. He even fell asleep in the car. I'm so glad we could give him a good home. Pictures to come tomorrow!

Congrats on the new beardie! One thing though I wouldn't use the heat rocks b/c they can burn their belly. Their heat sensor is on the top of their heads and they can't sense if their belly's are getting too hot.. Just a friendly FYI

Hi and Welcome! I can't wait to see Zeus! Have you got him the proper UVB yet? I agree with the above poster, no heat rocks. What type of feeder will you be giving him? Make sure that he also gets a daily salad of collard, turnip or mustard greens and some grated squash.

Welcome! Congrats on going the rescue route. I rescued one in October, and have enjoyed seeing him get more comfortable and have his personality come out ! Good luck with things and good luck with Zeus ! Looking forward to hearing more about him and seeing some pictures!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
