same as any inbreeding, malformed limbs, extra limbs, general health problems, and many die before or just after hatching. Would be the same if you had babies with your brother/sister, the chance of these awful things happening just about quadruples, even more.

The best way to avoid it is to be responsible and have each of your babies in their own tank!

With about 80 to 90% of every dragon being born from bloodlines that are in this country, Its getting harder and harder to keep clean bloodlines. So its almost impossible for a breeder to not inbreed to some extent. 95% of the time the breeder isnt even aware of it. However having seen the results of a couple clutchs that where bred to close to thier lines I have seen both sides of the coin. There was a higher mortality rate and a lower hatch % of the ones that did hatch maybe about half where slow starters or just not healthy. Maybe 3 to 4 of the babys where what I would call truly healthy.

Im not exactly certain what is so hillarious about your question that you need to put LOL in your post so many times. Direct line inbreeding is truly a bad thing in the bearded dragon community because of the shallow gene pool we have in the US in the first place. The general rule of thumb is 5 generations of separation is when the chances of severe birth defects are limited. But breeding a brother and sister would result in most of the clutch being malformed. Be it physical malformations or mental problems. I too have seen the results of direct line breeding. Try having a hatchling pop out with its organs on the outside of its underbelly. Or severe joint kinks (kinked necks, legs, tails, etc). How do you feel about having to kill an animal? The reason I ask is because with direct line inbreeding such as what you are discussing you will have to qull quite a few of them and the only way to qull a dragon humainly is to separate the brain stem penetrating the skull with a sharp object or decaptiation. Freezing is actually on of the most painful ways to kill a reptile because their body dies long before their brain does as the brain is the last place to freeze. So the long process of ice crystals forming throughout their body and brain would be equivalent to dipping your arm in gasoline and setting it on fire and letting it burn to the bone.

You need to rethink whatever is in your head that brings you to the idea of breeding these 2 dragons you have. Just the fact that it is in your head tells me that when the time comes you will likely allow them to reproduce. If that wasn't the plan you wouldn't think of it. I have been around this industry long enough to know that when keepers think they want to breed their dragons they will do it no matter what. But at least be smart about it and find a person to trade one of your dragons with so that you have the sex you want but from a different bloodline.

Its is neither a fun or funny topic.

I agree with you, Brian. The reason soo many baby/adult beardies are dying before their time is because of the weakened imune system because of inbreeding and I know the problems can get worse from there.

To be honest I think he was just trying to troll you guys, I wouldn't worry to much about it unless he keeps making a nut out of himself.

Inbreeding, especially with siblings, has been shown time and time again to weaken the species as a whole and be disastrous for hatchlings. I really don't find this funny at all (keep in mind I teach elementary school and am quite use to the humor of children).

Guys he is a troll, and he is really bad a being one. He is just here to make topics that upset you guys to get a rise out of you. Right now by getting angry and lecturing you are giving him and his friends a good old laugh.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
