Hi this is my first post ever and I need urgent help. I have just recently got my new dwarf bearded dragon (western bearded dragon) and th humidity levels in his tank are way too high! I don't get it I've got no water bowl in a here and he's right next to a window which we keep open for fresh air and ventilation and well I think he has a nicely ventilated screen top but we can't get the humidity levels down! Also he won't eat or drink I've missed home bathed him offered him stawberries and dusted crickets but he won't eat? Is he just settling in? I think I'm stressing him out because I keep coming in and out of the room trying to help him? If someone would reply it would be greatest appreciated! Thanks  :?: :!:  :( :? :silent: :|

Hi there....what part of Australia are you in ? You must be an Aussie to own a dwarf. How high is your humidity ? Beardies can take high humidity for part of the year, it's natural for it to fluctuate in their native habitat. New beardies may not do much eating + drinking, but keep offering slow moving bugs. If using crickets, shake them in a jar vigorously to stun them, then drop them near your beardie. Offer water via syringe on his nose....after a while he'll drink. Don't mist the cage if it raises humidity, just drip on his nose. And can you post pics ? Here's how:

I'm in Western Australia the humidity is about 65% I think it's about 15% to high as iv heard since I own a coastal bearded dragon they can handle a little more humidity but 55% at max, I have been shaking the crickets to stun them in a tube with calcium in my critter keeper he managed to eat one I think but that's it didn't seem to interested apart from that. Yeah but thanks for the reply I need you to guide me through as the last time I had a beardie was when I was very young and he died at the age of 3 but I've done 2 months of constant research and have a basic idea of what I'm doing. I'll try send some pics his lights are off at the moment though it's his bed time. Sorry it's a she actually, she's a lovely Beardie got some nice orange/brown on her! :p also how many crickets should I give her? She's 3 months old?

I am having trouble with My little 3 month old dwarf bearded dragon (western bearded dragon- pogona minor, his tanks humidity is too high and idk how to lower it, he's got a well ventilated top, and his enclosure is right next to the window which blows fresh air in, I have no water bowl I'm there yet the humidity probe is reading 65% although he is a coastal bearded dragon he can cope with humidity better than centerals but I think the max humidity should be 55% for him please help I need to lower it and I've only just got him recently and I'm under a huge amount of stress, don't know what to do and I'm worried for my little darling Ri-Ri :(

Chameleon 7, since you have 3 threads now with the same topic, maybe if the mods. merged them you could keep all the replies on one thread instead of multiple. And then if you have this put in the enclosures forum you might get more replies.

Not annoying , it's just easier for help to be given if it's all in one thread, plus it doesn't clog up the E.R. where real emergencies need to be responded to. But I would say just go to enclosures forum + post a thread like " Help please, need ideas to lower my humidity ". Someone will help you out there. :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
