Importance of knowing if he has atadenovirus?

Hi all,

I recently took my beardie to the vet because he had some loose stool. Turns out it was just some imbalance of gut bacteria and they gave me stuff that has cleared it right up and all his poops look normal now.

However, they told me it might be a good idea to check and see if he has atadenovirus. They didn't give me super great reasons to get him checked then and the test was kind of expensive, so I did not get it.

My question is, what are the reasons I would need to know if has atadenovirus? It looks like there isn't much I could do if he does have it and he is not in contact with any other beardies. Should I suck it up and get the test?

Did they do a fecal on him at all, or just gave him some meds to clear it up? If he is fine now,
it is up to you. A lot of them go through bouts of tummy issues at one time or another. It could
have been something that he ate perhaps.
If you don't plan on breeding him then it isn't essential unless you want to know just for the sake
of knowing in order to head off any potential health problems in the future.

They did a fecal on him and it just came back with more normal bacteria than usual (they gave me the names, but I forgot). And they gave me Metronidazole which seems to have cleared everything right up.

I think for now, I will hold off on the test, but it is good to know I have other options to get it and I'll keep it in mind for the future.
