Are all the dragons who got blockages so bad in their intestines that it put so much pressure on the spine that it led to paralysis a myth too?

Or the dragons who have to go through painful surgery just to save their lives from impaction... is that a myth?

Or the dragons who become septic from not being able to pass their waste... those are myths too?

according to a particular breeder can we please get responses a owner was told to feed fully grown crickets to a 6 inch silkback i know the truth id just like to get everyone to also chime in here

Do you have a copy of or a link to this breeder's care sheet? I would want to see in writing or from that breeder himself/herself that he or she gave this recommendation. I'll believe it when I see it.

I would also want clarification on the measuring method. Is this a 6" length from snout to vent or 6" length from snout to tail tip?

Thank you.

Silverado what's up with starting a topic you KNOW is going to be negative? Why not just warn people about a bad breeder if you have proof?

Agreed.

All very true, and well said. I do have to thank RandyMarsh for his OJ reference. I've been sick for a few days, and that gave me my first chuckle in a while.

I knew this would be about BBD as soon as I read the first post. They don't seem to have a lot of common sense about dragons even they have been breeding for years. I would never do business with them.

yeah i sadly judged on old reviews and bought a bloodbank my concern was vet bills for the animal because i knew somthing was wrong from the start now im sending a fecal out because he just will not grow and my setups are identical spot on my other animals have grown more in 1 month than he has in 5

Awwww :( If there is any question that there is a failure to thrive, you can send off a PM to Tracie and inquire about AV testing. AV has a wide range of symptoms, but failure to thrive is one of them. I would consider keeping the dragon in quarantine pending the results, just for peace of mind. I hate even thinking of that, but my mind can't help it. I hope he's just a slow grower, though!!

yeah i have a different mindset with av i think its a rediculous theory no offense my stance is the"every dragon has it" i believe it just to be parasites or a bad buy ive handled him intermitten with all my other dragons and they are perfectly fine i even bath together and there growing right on track the one leathers a little small but she just broke a huge shed tonight i dident even know she had! it was so bright rather than the normal dull sheds

Yeah, with AV everyone's got their theories and I understand that. The research on AV is pretty darned skimpy right now. I wouldn't take any offense at all that you feel every dragon has it - you are not the only one who feels that way, and I don't have any real knowledge to argue or support that. I sure hope you can figure out what is wrong with the little guy, though. I'm sure you're frustrated, as I would be, too.

Not every dragon has AV. I know at least 4 people who have tested their dragons and not had it. There is 1 breeder in Canada who has 12 proven negative dragons so to say that all dragons have it is ridiculous.
However, some positives will be more affected by it and their life will be a constant struggle as a result of it. I have first hand experience of this. I also have first hand experience with positives who aren't really affected.
Personally, I believe the start a positive dragon has will often determine just how badly affected they will be by it, which I think may be the case with this dragon...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
