I'm torn

I haven't officially said anything on here yet but I lost my little girl, Sandy earlier this week. I was just browsing Craigslist (I really shouldn't do this) and came across an ad for a free bearded dragon. The problem is...he has mouth rot. Other than the mouth rot he looks fairly healthy to me. I know mouth rot can be somewhat treated at home and with some help from a vet. Would he be worth getting? I'm still grieving over Sandy but something about him says that I need to help him.

Hi Brit.....I'm so sorry you lost Sandy. You are a soft- hearted person to want to take this guy. You might ask how severe it is and whether the dragon is eating. Think about an amount you're willing to spend and go from there. You're a good person to pick out the one that needs help.

I just got off the phone with the lady and she said that he is a great eater and otherwise healthy. The only thing that seems to be wrong is the mouth rot. She said that in the 2 weeks that she's had him it's improved some and she's been cleaning it and trying to treat it. Her one condition is that I would have to meet her at the vet, have him seen, then when I know how much it's going to cost me to treat him, he's mine.

Wow, that is pretty surprising coming from Craig's list. At least she seems to care anyway.

I actually decided not to take him. I don't want to put myself in that financial situation. I already spent enough on Sandy and I plan to take Hoss to the same vet and spend quite a bit on him too. Right now I just need to focus on loving and taking care of Hoss. I'll get another someday but today is not that day.
