You can use Repti-Safe or a water softener for aquariums for about a week and see. I don't think the hardness of the water has anything to do with this issue though.


I would recommend alot more baths over syringing water though. A bath for 10 - 15 mins a day is going to rehydrate them MUCH better than a couple mL of water from a syringe.

draco: Im sorry you are also going throught this, at least we are not alone in our battle!
im not sure if water hardness can affect a BD in such a way.... good question.
I havent moved, nothing changed when he went downhill - so im lost in the woods with a blindfold on!

allanons: he is bathed everyday for 10mins - i am syringing him everyday and everyday i get the same response to food - im trying to hunt down some silkworms - he loves them! they out of season so its tough!

In the intrest of trying everything i have brought in an animal communicator to see what she finds - i am even tempted to get another BD to keep him company (not same viv, sam location) but I dont see how this will help as they wont be intreacting with each other....
My dad built him a new platform to bask on - he loves to lay on it but is still dark and lifeless!

I cried yesterday because I just dont know what to do anymore!

Hello,

How are things going for him now, in his new area? Any improvements at all, has he begun to eat much yet?
Do you have all of the lighting set up correctly?
I hope that he starts improving for you soon. Are you giving baby food daily right now for him? You can try bee pollen to see if that will help with his appetite a little bit.
Keep us posted on him.

Hi Tracie: no improvement - he is tolerating his bath times now.

All the lights are correct - I have checked, double checked and rechecked. I have played with temps and he is the right amount away from brand new uvb lights,
I have not tried baby food but have been mincing crickets and veg and mealworms.

Where could I get bee pollen? I have reptaid which has little affect. I have found a supplier who has silkworms - as soon as I track him down I'm going to order some!

Oh My Word!! I'm so excited!!!!! I have been telling everyone!
Dylan ate 9 crickets and 3 mealworms today! (Ran out of crickets) off to the shop to buy more crickets - its going to take a lot of will power from my side to limit his protien portions (seeing as he hasn't eaten in while - is that correct?

Draco still looks like she is grumpy all the time. Her beard is always dark. Not compleyely black though. And she still hides as soon as she is in her viv .I have run out of options. I guess i will just have to wait and see what she does. I feel i am chasing a losing battle . x

That's exactly how I felt! I was closing to giving up a hundred times!
Just out of habit really I went and offered dylan a cricket when I got home from work and he took it!!! I almost fell over! I then held my breath while feeding the other (which I managed to dust with vits and calcuiun)
I then ran out to get more, I am so tempted to go feed him more but I know I have to take it slow - lol! I have never wanted to feed an animal so badly ever! Lol

I hope Draco eats soon! I feel your pain, I know exactly what you feeling!
