my Bearded dragon was eating lettuce, and on occasion, was eating apple slivers and celery leaves. He had some crickets mixed in his diet as well, occasionally dusted in the vitamins. He went about 2 weeks with no crickets, so I went and bought some from the petstore and when he ate a few of the crickets, after that he started acting different. He is hiding in his hut and down in between the rock stack and glass. Anywhere he can find to keep away from heat. He hasnt eaten in almost a week and is very very skinny. we have taken him outside for about 1-2 hours for the last 3 or 4 days and it seems to liven him a bit but never really keeps his eyes open. He lays in his water as well, and his bowels pass very little but does pass some.
With what I read on petcaretips.net, poisioning symptoms

First of all How old is your dragon?
What size of tank do you have him in?
Do you have any standing water in his tank?
How often a week do you bathe your beardie?
What are your temps?
What brand of UVB bulb do you use?

What it sounds like to me and I am no expert. It sounds like he is either malnourished because lettuce, apple slices, and celery leaves, with some crickets mixed in are not a sufficient diet. Please visit this website to learn more about the kind of things you SHOULD be feeding. If you beardie is young they need between 50-100 crickets a day not a couple a week.

Also if you have a bad quality UVB he may be trying to escape those rays thats why he perks up when you take him outside.

But first things first we need to find out what is wrong with your beardie.

Hannibal is about 4 or 5 months old. He is about 8-9 in long including his tail. He is in a 10 gallon tank and has a hut and a water pool/bowl, and a perch along with several creek rocks that has built him a little mountain like setting. His perch is a vine like, sturdy, twisted stick that goes from his hut to his rock mountain.reen indoor/ outdoor carpet. The flooring is the gHis heat bulb is a 75 watt Repti Basking Spot lamp on one side and a Repti glo 10.0 uvb bulb on the other side. From what I have seen we are using the wrong thermometer, we have the kind that u stick on the outside of the tank, uvb bulb side is 78 degrees and it also has a heat pad on the side of the tank and on the basking light side it is about 90 degrees. We have bathed him in warm water and continue to feed him crickets and greens. Hannible's condition continues to worsen and the worst thing about it is that I cannot find a reptile specialist in my area. I have found some that know a little about them but none that I feel can help him stay alive, Im terrified that we are gonna loose our beloved hannible. He is very loved by my. Hself, his dad and our 3 kids. His condition is continuing to worsen. PLEASE help us, what do we do? Can we somehow force feed him? I have even put vitamins on his crickets and on his greens but he eats very little. He was happy and very lively till I gave him some crickets we bought from Feeders supply. It was an immediate reaction, once he ate the crickets he became very sick. Please help us keep our little one alive. Any suggestion will help, does anyone have any? He has shed skin before and he never reacted this way. Please help us

First things first a 10gal is WAY too small. My little guy is about 2 1/2 months old and he is in a 20gal. And I will be upgrading to a 55 in a month or 2. So yea 10gal way too small you need to get him more space as soon as possible.

those thermometers are supposed to stick on the inside not the outside. So if you are getting a reading of 90 its probably WAY too hot. Get a digital thermometer with a probe from Wal-Mart I think its the acurite brand.

Get the water dish out from his tank ASAP aswell they don’t need water it makes their environment too humid which can lead to respiratory problems.

The heating pad is a no no please get rid of that immediately as well.

As far as feeding him and keeping him alive I would run out and get some squash baby food and get a plastic siring and try feeding him that way make sure to bathe him everyday until he starts to look better. Please don’t feed him mealworms or lettuce and go to this website that I linked above for a list of healthy things to feed him once he is eating again

Please post some pictures that will better help us help you to see the tank and your little guy. Also try to get a stool sample and have a vet test that. Usually they can get a lot of information and even save your animal from the results of the test.

Hello,

How close is the Reptiglo 10 tube bulb to him? Your basking light, is it placed directly beside the UVB light, correct?
It is extremely hard to maintain the proper temperature gradients in a 10 gallon tank. I would recommend trying to get at least a 20 gallon tank so you can get the temperatures under control.
He might be getting overheated right now. When that happens, they do not eat & become dehydrated & hide a lot.
It is highly possible he got some bad feeders, it does happen. Try to get extra oral fluids into him with a plastic dropper or a plastic syringe.
Have you bathed him yet to help with hydration as well?
Let us know how he is doing.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
