I think my babies have started fighting!

I understand thatm many of yous have said that you should never house 2 bearded dragons together, unfortunately I didn't join this forum til after I bought them. The person in the pet shop said they'd be fine, never trusting him again! About 5 minutes ago one of them had the other ones tail in its mouth and wouldn't let go and the other one was running away from it, I had to pull it off. Unfortunately I have nowhere else to put it for the night is there anything I can do to lessen the chance of anymore fighting tonight? maybe feed the one who was chasing it some crickets or something? Please help. It doesn't seem hurt or anything they could maybe be playing I have no idea what do yous think?

You really need to seperate them ASAP! if they are babies, you could get a 10gl from the store for a very TEMPORARY fix. but remember they're both going to need proper lighting/heat etc... Start looking on Craigslist or even your local Yahoo group freecycle or cheapcycle! good luck!

In an emergency you can use the tub!! With the stopper in and duck tape across!! :wink: Hey its free, cheap and it will work!! :wink:

You could also use a piece of cardboard to cut the cage in half. That way you could just alternate them to get uv for a day or two till you can get a new viv. Stupid pet stores and their bad advice have gotten allot of babies hurt. I am glad you found this forum.

Gah! I hate how they always say you can house 2 together thats just so they can sell more of em. A rubermaid tub is another thing you can use heck anything at all even a trashcan is better than leaving them together. Im so glad you was around when it happened!

LOL!!! to true! off topic, but when the last set of hurricanes rolled through, we taped up our stoppers and filled our tubs for water for the toilets and bucket baths!!! Gotta love the duct tape!!! Oh and another funny! A resident at the housing complex i work for called and stated the maint. guy used duct tape on the exhaust part of the stove. I asked him and he said, Yeah, it's an air duct, that's what it's really for! LOL I'm sure she's never seen in used in it's TRUE form!!! LOL

I'm pretty sure they just wanted us to tape our windows shut with it. Funny to think of us all wrapped in tape though. hehehe. :lol:

LOL, yes I was being sarcastic. The only way duct tape would protect you from a chemical attack is if you were to wrap yourself in it, but of course that would kill you too.

Fortunately they have not fought since but I am saving up to buy a new tank or am going to build one as soon as because I've been checking their sex and I'm pretty sure one is a boy and one is a girl. Which is an obvious problem since they are from the same litter! So will separate them soon.

I would have been going with any of these options...... we had 2 beardies together when we first got them ( because the petsop said it was fine because they were the same age). One day Cameron decided to attack Diaz's tail because it look like food,( we took him to the vet as part of his tail was sightly damaged ,from that day Diaz would hide etc and im sure wasnt eating properly and it wasn until i found this site that i was told i needed to seperate them. They had lived together for awhile so i put one in a smaller tank with a lid and sat it inside the larger tank, still in sight of each other, Diaz still didnt seem to get better,after more advise from this site, i seperated them in totally diff tanks and within weeks i saw a difference ( im sure the posts are sumwere on here still?). While Diaz was never the same he lived on for about another 2 years, my special needs dragon,his tail where he was biten as a little guy would flair up from time to time same exact spot,till finally he went down hill and we had to put him down. Long story i know, and pretty negative, but if u come on here asking advise, and ppl give it to u , u should really listen...just because they are ok now seperating them later maybe to late.
