I really need help with UVB!

I really don't know how to set up a good uvb reptisun 10.0 tube. I am going out to get one today to replace my coil bulb (because they're bad). I need a step by step for how to set the uvb bulb on the glass. I need it as cheap as possible. PLEASE HELP! (I have a 40 gal breeder tank.)

Are you going to go with a T8 bulb or a T5? With a 40g breeder I suggest a T5 if you're starting from scratch but they are more expensive. This would be a great option http://www.lightyourreptiles.com/22-t-5-ho-fixture-high-output-with-arcadia-d3-12-ho-bulb/ and you may be able to do pickup to save shipping cost - LYR is from Maine too, in Gardiner. A T5 can sit right on top of the tank and shine through mesh top. It should be about 12'' above the basking spot. The bulb will need to be replaced every 12 months or so.

If you pick up a T8 at the pet store it's OK but you'll need to mount it closer and I'd definitely get a fixture with a reflector. The Zilla Slimline fixture works well. Just be sure to remove the plastic cover before you put it into use because it blocks the UVB. I'd get a Slimline fixture 18'' T8 and an 18'' T8 ReptiSun 10.0 bulb. You can mount it inside the tank using small command hooks that will fit into the holes in the back/side of the fixture so you can set it to face downward. The light should sit 6-8'' above the basking spot for optimal output. The bulb will need to be replaced about every 6 months.
