I think someone is yanking your chain lol or just don't know what they are talking about. If beardies where aggressive animals they would not be as popular pets add they are.

Then can you explain why this little guy is so agressive? My first beardie was so calm, sweet, cuddly, playful and wonderful from the moment I got him on Christmas morning. When he passed away I was devastated. So I know why they are very popular pets. My mom went every week after that to the local pet store waiting for them to get more beardies in to replace him. They finally got one in and we took it. This is only my second beardie and it's night and day from my first. I cried the first week we got him almost every day because he was so mean. He opens his mouth as to bite everytime he sees me. I have to wear a glove to get him out of the tank because he jumps at me to bite my hand. Then he runs crazy to escape from me. He hisses at me and he turns his beard dark. I have spent the last month trying to break these habbits with no luck. He wants nothing to do with me and it is so sad because I miss my first one so bad and thought that I could quickly re-bond with a new one. So I guess when the pet store person (who raises beardies) told me he was a leatherback and more agressive than other types of beardies it sounded possible. She said that he will calm down but not for awhile. She told me to spend lots of time with him (which I do) wrapping him up and putting him next to my heart. She recommended I feed him outside of his tank (I set up a smaller tank in which I put him in to eat and take him out when he's done). If it's not the type of beardie that makes this one agressive than what is it? If this had been my first one, I would have never fallen in love with them but I am still hopeful his attitude will change because I know how special beardies are and how much joy you can get from taking care of one.

Beardies definitely have different personalities :)
It sounds to me like the little guy is nervous around you. Beardies can react with aggression like you're describing when they are frightened. Don't forget that it can take them a while to stop seeing us as big scary predators, and start seeing us as friends.
Something you can do to help get him used to your scent is put one of your used, unwashed shirts or pillowcases into the viv with him. I've heard that works well!
Good luck with your little guy! And try not to take his aggression personally. Like I said he's probably just scared. Luckily scared is something you can help him out with! :)

i have a leather back and she is just as docile as my other bearded dragons my male tiger was like that though when i picked him up i just put a tanktop in his viv like snazzyglasses also every time i walked by him i would talk to him and try to at least pet him and he calmed down really fast

You dragon is not being aggressive he is being defensive. There is a big difference. You need to get him use to your sent. This could take a while. Wipe your hands with a few paper towels for a few minutes. put the towels in the viv. Go from there

If he is a baby or a juvie, that is defensive behavior. He is afraid, and young beardies are still in fight or flight survival mode.

Don't approach him from above and grab him, that is what predators do. Put your hand in at the opposite side he is and slowlyyyyyyy move it across the bottom of the viv to him. Pick him up slowly and gently, and be sure to support all of his feet to make him feel secure. Don't hold him for extended periods of time, start with a minute or two and very slowly increase the amount of time you hold him.

As mentioned before, all beardies have different personalities. My first beardie, Rex, only liked me and my husband. He would try to climb down my shirt if anyone else came near him. He also never liked being out of his viv for extended periods of time, and didn't really like to cuddle. My new juvie's personality is more like Rex, but my 5 year old rescue loves to be out of his viv and loves to cuddle. I'm still working with the juvie, maybe he'll change a little. But I love him either way.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
